can rotors cause vibration when driving ?

Hi wanted to know if wraped rotors can cause vibration when drive. When I am driving there is vibration near the base of the car where the tires are and it vibrates the whole car, I have balanced my tires twice, I gotton a alignment and still the vibration, so I was thinking maybe the rotors because when i brake the steering wheels shakes, could there be any other reason thanks for your input

I used to have the same problem in my civic. but then again i was in an accident where i snapped my axle in half and the car never worked correctly again, even after being fixed.

but if your steeling wheel shakes when you brake, i would definately have the brakes checked out. thats a number one sign of bad brakes/rotors ect.

my car would just randomly shake violently

If you steering wheel shakes when braking around 60mph and is at its worst at that speed then I would say you definatly have a warpped rotor problem. Assumin you have everything else straight.

Could be:
warped rotors
incorrectly balanced wheels
a bent rim

Never underestimate the "out-of-round" rim, This evil bastard will be able to be balanced yet still cause that dreaded vibration, I learned this the hard way (like it sounds you are) after multiple balances and a brand new set of rotors, car was better but would still vibrate.

Everyone talks about vibration under braking. If it was like mine, vibration under braking was worse, especialy at top speeds, but the was always some type of vibration, sometime it would come and go but since I drive highway each day, I would always notice it. I've almost had to come to live with it as 19's with 35 series tires don't stay round for long:o

sounds like warped rotors to me, I just had front pads and rotors replaced at 26k , got the rotors covered under waranty, pads were $139.

916CL, I asked the same question about 3 weeks ago and was told yes warped rotors can cause vibrations even when the brakes aren't applied.

I had really badly warped rotors (car vibrated like crazy when braking at high speeds)
So I took it into the dealer.

I got lucky and they resurfaced all of my rotors and gave me all new pads @44k miles!

However, the problem with the vibrations at high speeds when not using the brakes still persisted.

Im pretty sure i have either a bad tire or a bad rim but haven't tried to isolate it yet. The strangest thing is that it comes and goes. Some days I notice the vibrations, other days I don't.

This is the best description of what I have and still am going thought with my rims. Car vibrated between 45 and 65 milesperhour today, but kept still above 65+.

mine would start at 60 mph and end at 67...didn't matter if i was accelerating through to 70 or slowing down from seventy...i would get that vibration for that 10 mph range. it ended up being a bent left rim that i bent when i was flying over a curb that i didn't see. check your rims, even when balanced, they can still vibrate a bit. but if you're braking and your steering wheel is hopping from left to right, then it's rotors/brake pads. when it's vibrating when you're just going and not braking...then your tires are probably bald. hope this helps.
