Can a rim be fixed??

I have a stock 03 S rim and I hit a curb so now there is a chunk of the rim gone. It has been this way for some time now but it kinda shakes. I don't know if the rim is bent or the chunk missing is throwing it off. The rim has been balanced but it still shakes so I think it might be bent. Can this be fixed or should I get a new one??

Thanks

depends how bad its bent. Take it off and look on the inner side for bends.

Then take it to a wheel shop for fixin sir.

If its bent I dont think its going to be a real noticable bend in a small area...it might be the whole rim is kind not round maybe...is that possibe...and could that be fixed? Its like a certian speeds I can feel it vibrate....and if I turn the stearing wheel a little in each direction while moving I can fell it more.

It’s probably not worth fixing it on a stock rim.
I think you’re looking at 150+ for most places…no?

THIS PLACE: http://www.wheelcollision.com is the name I hear most often.
They’re really close to me, but I’ve never had any work done there.
If I ever damage one of my Blingers that’s the first place I will go.

The place near me charged $80 to fix my wife's stock BMW wheels. It would have been $400 to replace the wheel.

Yea, if it was just bent I think it would be worth doing, but he said:
now there is a chunk of the rim gone.
That's gonna require welding and refinishing.

Anything over 50% of the price of a new rim is not worth it IMO.

We can get them for you for $275 each shipped... less if you pay via money order or check

I also curbed one of my new rims. I was sooooo pissed. It's actually not that bad.. so I sanded it down a little to make it smooth and I'm going to try to fix it myself. If I don't have any luck I'll have to find a rim shop in NY to bring it too....

Wow 275 shipped I wish I knew that a while ago How much if I used MO or CK?? See I didnt "curb" mine...a year ago I was going through a twisty road and I had just rotated my tires for the last time. The back was bald and the front not so hot...I was in the process of looking for a new set. Well to make a long storie short I fishtailed and ran the car over a curb/median and did about 2k worth of damage. I didnt do ins because my rate had just dropped and paid out of pocket to fix it. This rim is from that so now I am looking to fix the last part.

Ouch, damn. My last set of tires got pretty bald but I replaced them before it got that bad. They were dangerous in the rain, so that was my indication to change them ASAP.

So what are you planning on doing with your car while the rim is being fixed?... drive around on a doughnut/spare tire?

Just asking.. I am curious...

No I am going to take yours for a test spin :wishfulthinking:

The local shop I brought a few wheels to get very minor refinishing, they had a 996 TT wheel that IMO look way too damaged to possibly repair, but the shop manager said they could repair it. The Porsche wheel looked like it nailed a curb hard. Let us know how your wheel turns out - good luck!
