Cool Can I Do This Myself

Has anyone attempted to replace the spark plugs and/or air intake filters on a 2001 CL-s? If so, other than the obvious replacement parts, what tools are required to do so. I've had my 01 CL-s for 3 years and am wondering if I can save myself a 15 mile trip to the dealer for something that sounds pretty simple to do.
(What do I use to get the intake cover off?)
Thanks in advance for your feedback.

To take the intake filter cover off all you need is take 2 10mm bolts out... then the cover pops off... It's a pain to get it back in, as there are 2 tabs that you need to slide into 2 slots...

It probably took me longer to get my rachet, extention and 10mm socket then to do the actual job... Helms doesn't really cover it that well 'cause it's really easy.

Haven't done the spark plugs...

Spark plugs take about 30-45 min. To reach the rear ones, you will need to detach the IMRC bracket, use a swivel and extension sockets.

Very easy job. You'll probably save $50-100.

hehe... just finished putting Denso Irridium IK20s in 10 minutes ago. You don't need any swivel extensions of any kind. for the rear ones just feed the normal extention in under the strut bar and then insert into the socket and then connect the wrench to it. You need a proper spark plug socket with the rubber inside that will hold the plug when you pull it out or put it in. just make sure to do it when engine is cold otherwise this rubber piece inside the socket won't hold the plug well and you'll have a problem getting them out.

Thanks - will give it the ole' college try. Seems a person needs to be a bit of a contortionist these days, just to do what used to be a simple bit of maintenance.

Thanks to all again. Will be seeing you around for sure.

Too many emissions hoses and shit nowadays. Oh for my old '72. You could get at everything...with elbow room to spare!

A note if you have the CT or neuespeed STB. Remove it first. Makes things a lot easier.
