Can Acura truly compete with the big boys?

We have been seeing posts about the current line of vehicles offered by Acura. Now correct me if I am wrong, but Acura considers itself to be in competition with BMW and Lexus and more recently even MB(with their addition of a $30,000 car. The problem is that Acura has very limited models. Only like 5 cars with 4 options and those are limited options. Type S model, or non. Navigation or non. How can we expect Acura to truly match up with Lexus,Mb,BMW, when they have 2 and 4 door versions of many models, different engine packages. And more importantly a sports division as in AMG and Mpower. Lexus doesn't quite have this but they have GS-ES-SC classes, kind of like our type-S system. I know the acura is based as they best buy model(most bang for buck), but we don't have cars in the lineup that allow for especailly midrange comparison. $50,000+ range, we have no M3, no SLK32amg, no boxter equivalent. The S2000 can fit in there kind-of but it is a Honda.

I guess you could say Acura is the sport division of Honda (Accords that is)

There is no reason they can't. Look at Infiniti...back from the grave and they aren't fuckin around.

I would be happy with the addition of a sports car, roadster, and perhaps a pick-up truck. Hey it works for everyone else. Trucks sell great, maybe a nicer F-series, with some lincoln blackwood or Cadillac influence. What do you guys think?

The main problem that I see with Acura, is the lack of an inhouse tuner...like TRD for Toyota. Acura also needs to put a V8 in the next NSX and the RL.

I am all for that too, but that will be a long time to implement. Then they could compete with perhaps Audi. It would be great if they put it on the NSX or a new sports car(would increase handling as well as acceleration times).
