Cams

Will 08 tl-s cams fit in my j32a1? I was thinking about doing it at the same time I do my 09 tl intake manifold swap, ported type s runners, bored type s throttle body, and painted valve covers

I asked this same question on my J32 3.5 build and was informed they would fit BUT only with a machined spacer. This is because they are shorter in length of course...

I know that there are a few that actually did it but try asking Civic or NVA-AV6 for specific measurements. Gains were so minimal that I never followed that route and decided just to go with Bisi instead. 30-45hp was well worth the money spent IMO...

^yeH I'll wait and see how they work for you since Richardparker had problems with them. I'll probably end up just saving the money for a motor build next year, since the gains are so low.

I was going to get a supercharger but at that time I was planning on gettig it I will have around 220-230k miles, I thought about and decided I'm going to just build a motor. I'm going to buy a whole j32a2 then get a mdx 3.7 crank with rl pistons

That will be a decision you will definitely not regret. My wife's 07 MDX 3.7 has gobs of torque that continues all the way through the powerband. If it weren't for the large amount of power that I plan on using I wouldve chose the 3.6 or 3.7 (j32 w/spacer not a J37).

If you're going budget build and not all out, you should contact LKQ for the motor as that's where I got mine for a measly $280 and they waived the core fee. It was a low mileage motor at that. The J32/J35 early 2000 model blocks are all so damn cheap because they never break and it's hard for them to sell them...atleast that's what he told me. Depending on the cylinder wear, you may be able to just re-hone the surface and keep going rather than boring them. If you plan on using used pistons, make sure you let your machinist/builder know that in advance because the last 327 small block I built was with used TRW forged pistons and he later told me each cylinder had to be bored in direct relation with each accompanying piston because they wore unevenly in the last motor! Haha, crazy.

You do know the RL/TL-S/CL-S pistons are all cast right? You mentioned supercharger but that was with your other motor. I wouldnt assume reliability and long service life on cast pistons on any build over 400-450hp...especially if you ever planned on spraying due to the extremity of exhaust gas temperature.

^ yeah that is part of the reason I also decided to build a motor because mine has a little torque just not much. When I ride in my friends 3G tl I can feel how much torque that motor has over mine. I do plan on using lkq, in fact this week or next I'm going to one not far from me to get an 07 Honda v6 tranny for 900$ with just at 30k miles. I plan on running n/a after the motor build which will probably be the last thing I do to the car before I buy a second car. The last thing I was goig to do was a supercharged but didn't want to put it on a high mileage engine. I don't like nitrous because I want the power always there and don't want to deal with filling up a bottle and having one in the car period. I think it's cool what it can do its just not for me.

Stuff I have left to do:
Rl calipers
19"Rdx rims
Cusco upper strut tower brace
Cusco lower brace
UR 4 point brace
Hfc and comptech b pipe from p.diddy
Ported type s intake runners
Bored type s throttle body
09 tl intake manifold
4" cold air intake
3.6 build
Black housing headlights
Convert the rest of my interior to black w/ black wood trim

They say (and I most definitely agree) nitrous is the safest way to add power on any engine of any other power adder given all safety features are installed and monitored properly. Without these safety features, nitrous can easily damage and destroy any engine and that's exactly why it's gained the bad reputation it has...because careless, ignorant people that use nitrous without knowing anything about it do exactly that: destroy their engine. Nitrous has great simplicity, it's cheap, adds maximum torque/horsepower throughout the powerband and it's FUN!

As for your future to-do-list, I have a few things:
RL calipers- Make sure that the RDX wheels clear them. Im currently running a set of RDX wheels and there's minimal distance that I see to allow them to be ran. Check before purchasing...just saying.
RDX wheels- I just ordered a set of different wheels that will be lighter in weight. Once they are received and installed, mine will be up for sale. I will consider trades as well so if you're interested, tell me what you got. They are not mint but are in appreciative condition. You will have to roll and cut fender tabs to make these fit...especially in the rear.
Cusco suspension components- Mr. heeltoe has these on clearance right now, check them out!
Blackened interior- Yes to this! I just bought another 2003 TL-S from a customer of mine that's black on black and I'm totally diggin' the interior on this thing. So, more than likely, I will do a complete interior swap and add factory navigation while at it. Something about that dark woodgrain the screams luxury!

^I was pretty sure the rdx wheels would fit being +45 offset just like the 3g tl aspecs but good point. My biggest concern right is just getting the car back up in running since it has been sitting for almost a month. I just take it around the neighborhood for about 15 mins once each week so far since the transmission slips so bad now. I saw that heeltoe has them for sale but this month my money is going to classes, books, transmission, and rest of my parts for my intake manifold swap. The blackwood interior pieces was my favorite part about the type s black interior. I know nitrous is an excellent way to add power I just rather not deal with it especially since I have no clue about it at all.

Theyll fit, but IMO would be a waste in the A1 heads. I don't know the spacer thickness off the top of my head.

Thanks, I'm just going to save the money for other parts or my 3.6 build.
