camber.

ok i have a 2003 tls and have a comptech drop with the comtech sways.
i just got 19x8 racing hart c4. with 235/35 19

i noticed that in the rear the whole tire is not contracting the floor.
i have posted numerous questions about if i would need a camber kit if i did this and everyone said with a comptech drop i will not be needing a camber since the drop is minimual.

but from pastexperiences when the whole tread of the tire is not meeting the floor there is a camber prob.

for any of you who have a similar setup, do you have a camber prob? tire wearing unevenly?

also why is the rear wheels look as if they are not straight. they are at a slight angle. the front wheels look straight and are making more contact with the road.

thanks

looks can be deceiving, but it's not just camber you need to be worried about...there's also stuff like toe-in and out that would be hard to see visually.

if the car has been lowered for a week or so, and you've done a bit of driving on it already...enough for your springs to settle, take it in for an alignment if you haven't already done so. spending a few bucks here will save you alot of money by prolonging the life of your 19's.

Depending on how wide your 19's are you will probably need a camber kit. I have 18's and with the H&R drop I needed a camber kit.

You should also do like the guys above said and get a full 4-wheel alignment as it will save you money and stress in the long run....

well this is procedure i did..

i got the comptech springs and sways installed at once.
waited a week, then did an alignment at the dealer 4 wheels.
then week later got my 19's on.

i just want to know if anyone eles with 19x8 with comptech drop has had any uneven tire wear with alignment?
thats all.

that's the procedure i was going to do, but i knew i was going to get rims and tires shortly after lowering, so i waited until after receiving/mounting the rims before i aligned. changing the rim/tire diameter will mean the ride hide is altered, requiring an alignment.

everyone's results may vary, even with the same setup. i.e., many people with H&R sports neede rear camber kits, i luckily enough, did not.

take a hammer to the rim and pound it in str8, then take it for an alignment :P

naw bro, it definetly sounds like a camber issue, my tires on my integra did that as well, but i loved being able to take turns really sharp so i didn't bother adjusting the camber on my integra, but i assure you it is camber and quite possible toe as well.

How can changing rim diameter change the camber angle? Even if the ride height changed the suspension is in the same position. I might believe having less offset might change it but not by much.

Your shop just adjusted the toe. Nothing else is adjustable. The camber might have "looked" right with the smaller thinner wheels, but as the rim diameter gets bigger and the closer it gets to the fender the camber looks worse.

You have the before and after measurements form the alignment machine? I'd be curious to know what thr camber is.

Let's see some pics. One of the few wheels that look good when they're rolling or stopped

Dan.
