And actually, the cams are half the same between a CL-P and a CL-S. The intake side has the exact same lift and duration, but the exhaust side is different (lower lift and less duration for the CL-P).

damn, well I guess the majority of gains from swapping to CLS cams is going to be the high end, and maybe just a little low and mid. Will probably change thw exhaust note too as the exhaust is ever so slightly larger.
these are only teh cam lobe heighth, I don't think you can get the duration without actually measuring the cam lobes themselves to find the minor diameter of the lobes.

with the stock CL-P heads, you are better off going with the cl-s cams. You will probably see a good 5-10 horses under the curve with like 10 peaking. If you do type s heads, i believe you also have to change the pistons and rods to clear the skirts. At that point you might as well go with a j35 shortblock.

I've been sitting on this info for a while. Since the 2005 RL came out back in late 04, I was curious what the cam specs were on that motor. With 300 advertised hp, it had to be a combination of things, compression etc. I went to the dealer before any info was in print, IE Helms, and they pulled up the specs for me. The cams are hotter indeed as you see in the post above. The next question for me was will it fit into the CL head. Using a connection, we got a couple cams for a test fitment. They fit.
Now you all know a new mod, maybe a great upgrade for some, but not a cheap one. There are a bunch of things to consider if you chose this route.

...interesting. the new RL cams bolt right up to the CL? i'm in the process of starting the 3.5L build. so if i use the MDX crank and bolts w/ RL cam, and my stock block/head/pistons, this should make for some interesting number, especially torque. i wonder what it would be like bolting a supercharger on to a setup like that.

dont think the j35a5 mdx nor the 05 rl block can be swapped neither will the cams ... unless there are proven fact and been tested ...sry new to site so havent got the chance to read around so i mite be wrong ... the j35a5 mdx and the 05 RL are in different/newer generation and been improved from the CL-s j-series... kinda like the C-series from legend and C-series from NSX

for j32a it'd be betert to use j32a2 cams for NA and j32a1 cams for FI
not much differences but anything would help

It[ is a direct fit into the cls heads. I already have them in my heads that are going onto the other engine that's been in the works. Anything that the cls cams fit, the rl cams fit and will work; however, you'll need to consider piston to valve clearance as it will not clear the stock cls pistons. The rl cams would give you better performance all around. You would really notice a difference in the lower rpm range before vtec. The RL is a heavier car, so honda made the cam to help make more torque at the lower rpm >>>>

The coating on the top of piston is a thermal barrier coating, the side coatings is pretty status quo, it's even on the stock pistons, helps reduce scuffing and reduces friction. The compression ratio on these comes in at 9:1
