calling cold air intake owners

did you have to reset your ecu?
i had cold air on an integra and never had problems(aem).
i just ordered an injen intake after reading that the aem hangs low an dhas had filter puncture problems. i also just heard a few times in 1 day that people have had problesm with injen. it idles low and sometimes stalls out-this is from a friend with an 05 or 06 civic- and someone on here wiht a cl says there gears have shifted funny, and harder.

this would all make sense in that the cl's ecu is sensitive to try to conserve gas.

HAVE ANY OF YOU RESET YOUR ECU FIRST OR AFTER?
HOW DO YOU RESET THE ECU?
HAVE ANY OF YOU HAD PROBLEMS WITH INJEN CAI?(PLEASE EXPLAIN AND ALSO FIXES IF YOU HAVE FOUDN ANY)

Resetting your ECU can be done by removing the positive side of your battery for a few minutes and then reconnecting it back to your battery. (If you have the stock Bose head unit, make sure you have the radio code at hand or else you will not be able to play your tunes after the reset)

It dosen't matter if you reset your ECU before or after you install your intake just as long as you reset it before you start your engine. And even if you didn't reset your ECU, it will "learn" on it's own but you'll need to drive a few miles.

I don't have a Injen CAI so I can't answer that. I do have a ebay CAI w/K&N filter and never had problems.

You only have to be careful if you are driving through a lake.

I have an Injen and have never had a single problem. ANd you don't have to worry about anything unless you submerge the filter.

thanks everyone for their post!!!!!! its good to hear there arent problems. i had aem on another whip and had always heard it was better for hondas btu i was swayed by the sound and the fact injen comes in black.

thanks though i am planning on just putting it in and going so it is good to hear others did this with no problems. my aem was a while ago and i tended to do things without fully researching the consequences back then.

-i thought the aem hung lower than the injen though? is this inaccurate? also i know you pretty much have to hit a lake to mess up the engine with water-but i would have thought injen would offer a bypass valve just to be safe(and just to have another item to charge for)

thanks again for the post guys, i aappreciate the help as always!

CAI should all sit pretty low given it sits outside your engine bay of course the point being to suck up colder air vs. all the hot air from the engine bay. if your worried about hydrolocking that is why they make bypass valves. I put on my bypass valve in winter just to be safe and the rest of the year I just put on a coupler hose in replacement of my bypass. plug and play, the ecu will adjust itself

my cai sits higher than the vent/fog hole. so i've never had any problems with hydrolocking, even in melting snow/rain.

seriously, a CAI is simply a long ass tube, if there are problems after install it's simply user error; somebody missed a tube or broke a sensor, or something along that line
