^ There definitely is a DIY, but really, how hard do you think it is?

Here's what I do:
1) Remove wheel
2) Remove caliper bolts and take off caliper bracket and hang caliper by bungee cord from spring
3) Spray parts with brake cleaner and wire brush until decently clean
4) Apply multiple coats of brush on (spray on sucks) caliper paint
5) Open beer, drink beer, wait for paint to dry
6) Reassmble parts, put wheel back on
7) Stand back, observe freshly painted calipers, then finish 6 pack

Step 5 should be between each of these steps.

i used hight temp engine paint for mine. it worked really well, but it takes 5 coats at least to make it good looking.

Yeah, hi-temp engine spray paint will work too, actually I used it on my 240SX calipers back in the day, but it's so much easier painting calipers with the brush on paint because you don't have to mask everything off and worry about over spray. And yes JohnBlayz, step 5 should be repeated before each step!

I stand corrected...

Them are some good looking calipers. I guess the ones I have seen were spray painted (and not prepped properly.)

I will definitely execute step 5 (above) on a regular basis while waiting for the paint to dry and dreaming up ideas for my next "Rice or Nice" feature post:

Rice or Nice:
Curb Feelers?
Fake Quad Exhaust?
Body Colored Tint?
Gold Crown Air Freshener....

The CL's in the paint-shop for another week, new Konig's in my garage awaiting her return.

I'll post up some pix of the 4 x 4 with new paint and shoes in a week or two.
(Yes, suspension is next - but I won't start another thread on that for fear of being lynched!)

^Too funny, yet too true.

Also, if you simply clean the calipers with a cleaning agent and a wire brush they're almost decent looking, all shiny and purdy!! But only if your rotors are in good shape (not too rusty and what not).

Nice. Glad you're not going the cover route. It's so true that prepping them properly is the best way to ensure they'll come out good. And please post pictures of those curb feelers and body colored tint once they're on!!!

Here's another shot of how mine look from a distance and a different angle.

I really do like them so much better now. I even find myself looking over at black cars so I can see how the look in the reflection and while the wheels are turning. I'm gonna crash because of it someday.

Beautiful shot of the car! I like the soft focus on everything but the car. My pictures usually have soft focus on the front of the car and my thumb print over the back of the car... Some people don't the look, but we can't all be artists.

Ok but whats this about the bungee cord?? I need pics, I don't spend a lot of time on that part of the car so after I remove the wheel I'll prob be lost w/o a DIY. But if you used brush on i think i'll go with that, looks good, do you mind givin me the link to the DIY thread??

Not bad, but not what I'd do. I think I'd just sand mine down and paint silver.

You can use what ever you have, i.e. coat hanger, string, etc, not only a bungee cord. It's just so the caliper isn't hanging there by the brake line so you don't have to worry about damaging anything.
