CAI vs. Intake

For a Spec V, which is better of going with CAI or Normal intake, y performance shop guy says CAI's can seriously harm the engine and i was beter of going with a normal intake even though they produce less horse. What do u think?

or get a short ram intake. I'd rather have that if I was worried about water, because it's been shown that the bypass valve opens up very easily and can let a lot of dirty air into your engine.

Lots of people have it, and I don't think it will do that much damage, but that's just imho. Someone was able to open the flaps of the bypass valve just with suction from their mouth. So it seems like it would open a lot, especially during hard acceleration. And since it's not actually a filter, all the air that passes thru it is dirty. Also is supposedly costs you a couple hp. So I took mine off for the hell of it, and just drive carefully when it rains.

i am new to this stuff....only done stereo work before....so let me ask you a question.

if i was to take off the bypass, what do i put in its place? the bypass connects the two metal tubes...do i have to get one tube instead? or is there a connector piece to put there instead?

get a CAI that way you can disconnect it when the weather gets shitty and you can run it as a short ram.

I don't bye the bypass thing anyways, the chances of you getting water that far up are very slim. It does happen, it's just very rare.

Also, there will be a connector piece to put there instead

I already got my CAI and its installed with the bypass. If I want to remove the bypass can I do that? I live in Arizona so I don't really need the bypass anyway

Yea you can remove it. They should of given you an extra silicon adapter. If they didn't you can find one at a local auto parts store

Also, just keep the bypass in, i wouldn't worry about anything happening to it.

I replaced my bypass with a piece of that tubing used in turbo applications. 3" diameter blue rubber tube.
