CAI throwing check engine codes???
CAI throwing check engine codes???
OK I think I know the answer to this already, but wanted to send it out to verify;
I am thinking the CAI should not throw any engine codes whatsoever (AEM). The reason I ask is because going to pick up my car today, I get in to start the car at the dealership and the check engine light is on. Needless to say I go right back inside and tell them to check it out (hopefully not another god damned month), so still without my car. Anyways they tell me the initial check by the service tech, and they reset the code, but it still has an fluctuating\alternating idle. But the thing that gets me is the service advisor calls me up yesterday, and tells me the car is ready and that the service tech took it for a test drive and reported everything was working great (OK like they didn't see the damned check engine light??).

Assuming nothing is really wrong, just disconnect your positive battery terminal and leave it off for about 5 minutes. Reconnect and see if it goes away.
Make sure you have the navi and radio security codes before you do it....and your radio presets.

Sorry to hear about your problems Jsuppi. When my tranny started to go my check engine light came on and went off the first day and then stayed on there after. There are many many things that can cause the "check engine" light to come on. I wish I could be more help.
Well after my first one went :D
Marine1,
After the first tranny went that's exactly what happened, I was unfortunately trying to get on the toll road from Westheimer to the dealership when it decides it does want to go anymore
I was scared shitless, having people trying to merge on the beltway without me being able to get out of second gear
:angry: on the feeder ramp, and then limping along once I got on the beltway for the next exit
. My check engine and transmission lights all lit up like a Xmas tree when that happened.
The thing that annoys me is that the service manager said the tech took my car out Friday and drove it around and said everything was OK. Unfortunately that doesn't give me alot of warm fuzzies when I get in the car at the dealership and not even put the car in drive when I look down and see the check engine light (you know those things are kinda hard to miss!!, or I would at least think so).
I was just curious because the intake sounded pretty loud when I got in the car, usually a sympton of something not being connected right (good possibility that the lower part of the CAI was dislodgd from the upper part of the CAI, i've seen it happen before when the dealership has worked on my car before). Generally the check engine light doesn't throw a code then (it shouldn't since the engine is still getting air, even though it's taking a different route to the throttle body).
Oh well we will see Monday exactly what is going on.
