CAI really useful in Texas??

Is it worth it to spend over $300 for CAI on a Texas car when it is over 80 degress half the year or more, and many summer days over 95. ???
I need cold air, but inside the car!!!

well a CAI is still better in 95 degree weather than a stock intake in 95degree weather WITH the engines heat.

And yea, you are getting ripped if you pay $300 for a CAI.

Seriously.. check out our site before you spend that kind of money on a CAI... waaaay too much.

Anyway, I agree with the other part of Crazy's post too.... pulling in the air from outside will always be better then what's in the engine bay.

It's fine for south FL! Texas is alot less humid so it's better.

Well let's see ....
$248 for Comptech, $18 for shipping, maybe no tax. installation is probably $30, (no I ain't doin it).
let's total it all up- ....$296.
Sorry I should have said $4 under $300.
think I'd rather do springs and sways, the handling needs more help than the acceleration.

Well, your sig says Austin, so there's lots of twisties in that part of Texas . . so sways and springs will be a big plus.

And yes, it still makes a difference. The Icebox flows more air so that helps, and the 95 degree air is still a lot cooler than the 150+ degree air under the hood.

This time of year it's not all that dry here either . . especially Austin.

BTW - it 72 and 97% humidity here and it hasn't rained all day.

Ah, but come July we'll have burned off that humidity and cars will be falling in to the large cracks left from the heat.

don't pay someone to install it! I know that i can definetly help out, and we could probably get a couple other Austin guys out and make a mini meet out of it if you will. By the way, if you havn't heard it in person, I have the AEM and would be more than willing to take it out to show you and let you listen. Let me know.

CAI is the best buy in terms of dollars per hp.

ATXCLS, thanks I'd be interested, tho I think I heard one once in South Austin, a guy in a silver CL pulled up beside me and hit the gas and it was pretty loud. I assumed it was the AEM. I'm more subtle and was thinking baou the Comptech.
A mini meet is a great idea but it'll take me weeks to get the new car and 3 CAI shipped. I'm dealing on a newer 6speed now and selling mine, hopefully done in a week.
