CAI and NOS Install

CAI and NOS Install
At least it was attempted. Here comes a long story....
So, it all started with my new Xephyr CAI. I set to work installing the CAI. The instructions were very simple and the install went quickly. I had removed the old box in about 10 minutes. They set to work putting the new CAI in. Everything went good till I had to figure out what to do with the J-hook. I couldn't get the intake to stay in place. I finally put the clamp around the old rubber piece and hooked it on the now bent J-hook.
Everything was great. Put the splash guard back and started unpacking my NOS kit.
I decided to start by hooking up the spray to the CAI since I am already there. I took the 90 degree pipe off and drilled the required hole. Got the tap out and DAMN! The whole is to big. Instrustions say use a 5/16" bit and thats what I used. Well thats no problem because there are two ways to hook it up.
So I search through all the parts for the 7/16" nozzle kit. And there is problem 2! I checked all the parts I was going to be using when I got the kit, but never checked the parts for the other way of hooking up the nozzle. In the kit I have two mounting bolts and no nuts
So now I have to figure out what to do with the whole in the CAI until I get a replacement nut. Luckily the 5/16" bolt/nuts for mounting the bottle fit the whole fine so I can block it off.
Back together my car goes and out for my test drive.
Now for the review.
I started her up and then turned her back off to hear that hiss everyone was talking about, sounds evil!
Back on she goes and its time for a late night drive.
Everything is great got the pedal stuck to the floor, both windows and the moon roof open. I really enjoying the drive.
Now for the butt-dyno results. I don't know if it gave a noticable performance boost. It felt like it but my butt-dyno hasn't been calibrated lately.
If it doesn't give a real improvement that great sound you hear at 6500 rpms just make you think you have a F1 engine in there and the pedal just won't go down fast enough.
So, I will give the CAI a 7 for "real" performance boost, and a perfect 10 for that amazing sound.
I can't wait for the other "stuff" Chris is working on!
