Had an AEM CAI for a long time, and I took it off today to look at it, and clean it, it had a huge crack on the underside running up to the top.. WTF AEM?

Heres my cheap fix until I can order another one...

anyone know if the warranty will cover it or if they had the same issue?

 

just have a muffler shop bend you a pipe and you're golden...

 

you left the stock resonator in when you installed your CAI?

 

no i was gonna put the whole stock set up in, but then just realized i could jam the filter on, i took the bumper and everything out

 

DID u buy the aem CAI new.???
Thats weird , I have had two 4 over 5 yrs and NO problems at all

 

Did you have to take off the bumper to get to the CAI?
I have a CAI that was installed by PAA awile ago that needs cleaning but looks like I have to take the bumper off to get to the cone!

 

^just take off the plastic under it, you'll be able to reach up and grab it

 

damn, that sucks. How long is a long time? Take pics and send them to AEM.

nah i didnt get it new, friend of mine with an 01 cls sold it to me when he got a new car, but it looked good at time of install.

also its not a good idea to have your filter that close to the hot engine with out anything protecting it

 

^ty for the input, its just temporary, and I dont really have any long commutes for it to get super hot anyway.

 

did you try farting out of it yet? afterall, you are the ultimate fart faced kid.
