Cadillac SRX
Last night, I stopped at a Cadillac dealership to look at the new SRX. I never...in a million years, thought that I would look at a Caddy.
I was out driving my father home from the Suby dealership where he dropped off my mom's Outback, and the Caddy dealership caught my eye. We stopped, where they had a silver V8 SRX in the showroom with all the options except for nav and ultraview sunroof...320 hp and 315 pds of torque...YUMMY. I was VERY surprised at how tasteful this SRX was. It is a BIG vehicle, but once you get into the driver's seat, it doesn't seem as large as it really is. The fit and finish was acceptable and seats were comfortable and position properly.
It was just really nice all the way around. Don't get me wrong, I didn't drive it because the dealership was about to close for the evening. I could drive it and hate it, but I doubt that. I only had two dislikes; and the one, I can live with. The gas mileage wasn't great for the V-8, as they quoted 16 & 20. I know those numbers are good for a V-8, but I would like to have my cake and eat it to. I want V-8 power with V-6 gas mileage.
My other dislike was the pricing...WOW!! They are NOT affordable if you want to load up the V-8 with options. The V-8 in the showroom stickered at around $52,500, and as I stated above, that was without nav and sunroof. Both of which are $1,000 - $2,000 options. That puts it at $55,000 at least. Does that seem high to you guys, or am I still pricing cars in the 1990's.
I love the vehicle, which compares in price with an equally equipped MDX, but the V-8 and options push this thing to a price much more than I would be willing to spend. IMO, if Caddy wanted to really take on the competition, they should have priced the V-6 a thousand or so lower, and then priced the V-8 loaded for around $50,000. That would get MY attention in a hurry.....
even more than they already have.

The SRX is nice, but I too can’t believe the prices their getting for Luxury SUV’s these days.
The manufactures are laughing all the way to the bank with profits of 15K or MORE per vehicle.
And I hear the majority of people are LEASING them with little money down.
OUCH….Talk about bad money management.
Some of these 50K monsters probably command 700-800 a month on LEASE !!!
