C32 AMG vs. Modded 350Z

I get on I-280 last night going south and crusing around 60ish when I see (& hear) a 350Z in my rear view merging on the highway very quickly. He then pulls next to me (I didn't think anything of it) and he revs a couple times (it seems like a MT cuz he's in gear), so I assume he wants to run. I moved the lever 2 times left (D3) and gave it a little gas and then he floors it around 65 and then i got on it. We went up to a little over 100 and I got 5 cars easily on him. After the run, we took the same exit and chatted a bit. It was a MT track edition and he had springs, 18" gunmetal rims, intake, crawford plenum, exhaust, & cf spoiler. He couldnt believe the C32 was in stock form.

I dont think its necessary...so many people think its "just a slow C class" and you can't hear the S/C. Little do they know that they'll be staring at my tail lights.

Very, very nice whip. How much for something like this? $40-50K?

I know to show respect to any MB with the AMG badge on it.. no matter what class.

Again, very, very nice car.

C32 is pretty damn fast!! They're supercharged, and a lot lighter than the E class I think.

CLS2001_97124 - Thanks for compliments bro. For a new one, starts around $52k up to $59k. I got mine used (fully loaded with all options)with 22k miles for $40k OTD.

Dave - Someone just ran 12.9@107 stock (349hp/333tq) at the track. Mike started a thread about it in car talk. The C32 weighs in at 3540 lbs while the E500 is 3812 lbs, so almost 300lbs lighter and 50 hp/33tq more. The E55 is a whole different beast weighing in at 4087 lbs, but 469hp/516tq!

It's all about the 3.2L V6.

Last time I was at the track an E55 did 12.1 @116. Still had paper tags on it.

Nah, it wasnt starmarked...if it was, I probably couldn't get that price OTD. I bought it from a private seller...lucky bastard got an 04 E55 to replace the C32 he sold me.

Great buy. So the warranty still applies even if you transfer from the original owner to the new one?

How were you able to find such a great deal? So all used mercedes still under warranty will be warrantied regardless of new ownership?

riceburner - Lots of looking around & negociating...some guy on the mbworld forum got an 02 C32 8.5k miles for $37k. Look on mbworld & c32life classifieds or maybe autotrader.

red - H&R (adjustable) sways make a big difference in handling. That would probably be the first mod. I wouldnt lower the car b/c I don't want to deal with the ride & inconvenience of that anymore. After that, I would be saving up $$$ for a stage II kit (Overdrive pulley set, upgraded intercooler & aftercooler, ECU upgrade, plugs&wires, headers, SL55 intake). That should be good for 435hp at the crank and low 12s in the 1/4mile.

If the car is starmarked, it comes with warranty for sure. Im not sure for all cases, but for me (which was a private sale & regarding the extended warranty) it was transferrable. I just noticed the owners manual has a postcard included to transfer ownership & warranty also.
