c/t icebox query

was just looking at the pics of the icebox for the accord. they seem to use some type of accord-ion-rubber (GET IT!! accord-ion damn i kill me!! i got a million of'em!!!) section to allow for better fit. i can see how this would also help much in reducing vibration but doesn't it also introduce a significant amount of turbulence in the airflow to the combustion chamber? has anyone toyed with the idea of perhaps mating an injen or aem short or ram intake to the icebox? this way you get the advantages of an intake with a smooth flowing interior as well as whatever cooling, filtering and/or sound benefits (if any) of the c/t. the real trick would be to get c/t to sell only the filterbox portion of their setup for hopefully a cheaper price otherwise we could expect to see a bunch of postings on the blackmarket board like this:

F/S: throttle body end of c/t intake with accordion rubber section. will trade for aem bypass valve.

From what C/T has told me about their other IceBoxes, they are proprietarty to the intake tubes they make.

I get asked this all the time from the, bad word, civic guys because they are separate pieces. The bend in the C/T intake tube is such that it will fit with or withought the box, but is bent at both ends instead of just where it meets the throttle body. By doing this, C/T was able to have it just work with their products.

I know, its sneaky but it works.

Basically, C/T wont make their iceboxes compatible with other intakes. They are designed to work only with C/T pieces. From what I have seen, the AEM and Ingen intakes do not bend the right way to meet up with the C/T icebox.

Does that help?
