bypass valve touching side

Hey everyone...does your AEM bypass valve touch the right side of your car?

The edge of my bypass valve is on there just enough to make it a good rub.

Should I be ok? keep an eye on it and make adjustments (push the pipe)? its normal?

Some of the foam has a little rip in it.

Thanks Guys

The foam just acts as a "secondary" filter...the valve doesn't even open unless the vaccum is lost.

Mine does the same thing, the only thing that worries me is that the foam filter gets wet whenever it rains or I wash my car.

I decided NOT to install the device since it is always allowing air in (at least with a moderate amount of air flow).

The smallest amount of vacuum/pressure difference will cause the flappers to open. At WOT, there is a vacuum in the pipe and it's enough to allow hot air to be sucked through the foam.

I tested the device (off the car), and the slightest draw on the device would allow the flapper to open. I could also BLOW into the device and it "leaked" air (this means it leaks most of the time).

If you don’t have the unbroken foam on the bypass, and the air in the engine area is dirty, you are going to let crud into the engine!

My suggestion would be to make sure the foam was NOT broken. AEM supposedly sell the replacement foam and it would be worth putting it back on to not have JUNK entering the engine. There is some foam on the inside (at least on the one I purchased) so that might help.
