Bye Bye Carlsbad
Bye Bye Carlsbad
In case you guys didn't know...another track has been lost to developers. I now a few of you had been to this track. Unfortuantely, I never made it. I guess an office park is going there....took them 13 years to develop the site, at least that was 13 years of racing after it was sold.

Some good times at that track. Sad to see it go.

and its low elevation, where as the other worthwhile track close to hear (LACR) is 2700 ft above and i cant even break 14's!

Yes it is very sad to see it go.
Mike, I have only been to the track once since I've been here. Ran slower than at elevation. It was 91 degrees with over 90% humidity. Ran a 14.4 @ 95mph. For comparison, a bone stock G35 coupe ran 15.5s all night, lightly modded 2000+ Stang GT was running 14.5-14.6. I ran with the local GP club, and they said they were anywhere from .3 to .6 off their times. Another problem I had, is I had to run in street trim, you can't dump your stuff at the track, so I had everything, spare, jack, toolbox in the car with me. I'm sure I'll crack a 13 when it cools down, and I can leave my stuff at home. Also, had to partially go through the water box.
power3dfx, your next best track is probably Bakerfield(600ft), but you'll want to wait for it to cool down(probably a billion degrees right now
). There is also Cali Speedway(Fontana), but I think that is at 1200ft...you'll get a 13 there for sure. You can always drive up to Sac...great track and 200ft elevation!!!

Bakerfield is not a slow track, the elevation isn't too high, and if you go with decent weather, you can pull decent times.
Yeah.. I've run at Carlsbad since 1994! LACR is okay except for the elevation. Pomona is VERY good whe they pour VHT down the entire track. I haven't tried Fontana yet. Sacramento is a very quick track along with Sears Point (near Vallejo).
We should have a meet at Sears Point sometime!
