Buzzing Noise From the Vents in Center of Dash?
When I start my CL-S or just turn the key to the ON position I sometimes hear a buzzing noise that lasts for a few seconds and sounds like it is coming from the vents in the center of the dash. I think it happens more when I adjust the temp dial from say 75 to 90 before turning on the climate control.
I did a search and didn't find anything on this.
Does anyone else get this noise?
Is it the dash vents re-adjusting themselves or something else?
What causes this?

from a cold start only? Is it only when you pull away slowly after not driving her for a while? If so, I think thats normal cause I have the same thing and the dealer said it had to do with abs or something. dont really remember.

Today the noise happened right after I started the car. The climate control was off and the knob was already at 80 and I didn't move it......so maybe it isn't related to the climate control system? It actually sounds like it is coming from behind the instrument cluster.
What is it?

well the abs noise that you are talkin about is the abs system recharging itself.. it does it twice when you start the car... if it is a noise that only happens when you turn ur vents on then there is probably something stuck in there that vibrates when you turn it on.. i dont know what else it could be...

I have an 03 CL-S and I heard the same noise last week when I started the car up that morning. It was clicing for about 1 minute and I thought it was coming from behind the glove box. The dealership couldnt figure out the problem. Oh well, it didnt effect the way the car handled when I drove it. I am not too worried

does the noise increase or decrease if you put the climate control fan on different speeds? I had the same problem after hurricane katrina, the wind blew a bucket load of leaves into the fan as the intake to that area is under the plastic cowl over the wipers. even though there is a cowl there to reduce the debree, some still makes its way into the blower.
its easy to clean out, you just have to take off three screws that holds on the blower motor and take it out, clean it. or pay a dealership 200.00+ to do it. took me about an hour and i've never done it before on this car.

I just took my blower motor out this weekend and it was about 1/3 full of pieces of leaves. It is the first I have had it out on my '03 CL-S. I guess it should be done from time to time before it gets jammed up completely.

I have rattling and little squeaky noises coming from different locations. I found out that it was the little trims of the wood grain/metal trim shifting or moving from its place little by little.
The cars that have suede/normal fabrication/and other trims that are of soft trims, will not have this problem.
We will have the little noise problems, because our trims are a bit more fragile and are of more solid/harder parts.
Another possibility is that the interior is weakly assembled.
But, who cares! Only happens in cold weathers! warm your car up with some heat and its fine! I think!

The sound is definitely not the fuel pump or ABS.....it is a different sound.....kinda like a grrr....sounds like a motor of some sort. It may not necessarily be coming from the vents in particular, but it sure sounds like it is coming from behind the instrument cluster.
I will still keep trying to isolate the location.

I had some sort of motor replaced that was causing a ticking noise in the AC system when I was sitting at stop lights I'd notice it. Not sure if you hear it beyond the initial noise, but maybe when sitting somewhere after the car has been running and see if you still hear it.
