After everyone's input, I decided to buy another CL-S to replace the one that was totalled 03/09/03. Wile I await the fight over the paltry payoff from the insurance company, do you have any suggestions as to where to submit a VIN to see where a car has been (accidents, liens, tranny replacement, ect.)?

 

CARFAX seems to be the option of choice. I used it when I purchased my '01 Type S and it was dead-on accurate. I'm sure there are other sites that can do the same thing. Hopefully some of the posters will chime in.
