Buying Headers Soon

Well I am about to take the plunge and buy some headers off ebay. I have found several sellers that have them going for ~$125 with shipping. I am looking at this item:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...3AIT&viewitem=
Feedback looks good. Anybody ever heard of this seller? Also does anybody know where I can get them installed in Miami FL 33134? I do not have the time or tools to do it myself. Thanks.

You do not want the ones with that added front flex pipe.

I don't know if XS has truly changed there design of not. Conflicting reports about that.

I would say at this point go CT.

There are tons of header threads with all the info out there.

Thanks fuzzy. Yeah I have been reading thread after thread but they all seemed a little old. I wanted to see if there was any new info out there. It seems that most of the headers on ebay have that front flex pipe. What is wrong with it? Does it rot or break? CT is a little out of my price range.

DC's newer batch of 3 bolt design should be better than their old 2 bolt setup.

having experience with some "other" headers and tons of money and labour spent trying to make it work... I can say that CTs fit perfect and most likely will last as long as your car or possibly longer. I must say that I bought a brand new set of CTs by some freak accident for a very good price at the time when I needed to replace the downpipe anyway due to a leak. Otherwise I probably wouldn't consider it. my suggestion is to source some used CTs in good condition.

Unfortunately CT headers even used are out of my price range. I am just too cheap to spend that much. I may try the ebay headers. Thanks.

if CT are too expensive, then go SS autochrome. If their design has been changed, too cheap for you or cant find used ones, then go DC.

SSautochrome/XS power headers are still out of stock. They are re doing them for some reason. I was sent an email from XS that it would be another 30 to 60 days before they are avalible.

im sorry but you gotta spend the money or dont buy a thing. i spent $1300 on my new comptech 2 years ago,and still not one problem, not even a sense anything will go wrong, and the tone of my car sounds great now [headers change the tone of the engine, not the intensity a.k.a. loudness].

save up for Comptech and don't be in a rush cuz you'll end up with more problems than anything... you can snag CT Headers for probably $500, but you'll have to be patient. by time you save it up, one should be available.

good luck w/e you choose.

[just my over-analyzed, big mouth two cents.]

There is an entire Comptech exhaust, Headers back on ebay right now for $1,100.00. I know thats a lot of doe. I for one won't spend that much on a CL. I'll just wait for XS to come out with thier new ones. Don't plan on keeping the CLS for that long anyways. It's nickle and diming me to death. And it only has 75K.

Oh yes, forgot to mention that. I would think it would be pretty easy to retro fit. right? Should be pretty close?

This is my problem. I don't want to spend too much because I don't know how long I will keep the cl. It's aproaching 100k miles and really don't want to dump alot of money into it. I am just trying to keep it interesting. The car is getting boring.

If you don't want to spend a ton of $, then just wait for XS to get some back in stock. Best bang for your buck.

I hope the new XS headers are as good or better then the old ones and they keep the prices the same.

I got the XS headers from ssautochrome. They definitely add a bunch of horsepower and make a way better exhaust tone. Keep in mind that they are cheaply made. You have to buy oem gaskets and stronger/larger bolts/nuts. I also had to wrap my flex pipe b/c it was making the bees in the can noise. I still have a little of the annoying noise after a rev. Thats the only drawback, but what can you expect for $130? You gain HP and tone, but the quality is iffy.

Keep in mind that Comptechs will hold their value b/c they are no longer made and are nothing but quality. If you can find a good deal on comptechs get them b/c you'll be able to make your money back if you don't keep the car long.

Id go with CT. I had the XS headers, and even though the gains were there the quality wasnt there, not to mention the annoying noise it made. Do it right the first time and start saving up

Yeah the ss autochrome and the xs are the same headers and sort of the same company.

I would say if you pick up those headers to replace the flex pipe with a good one. Even if they are new.

Maybe thats what they are changing hopefully.

I picked up my xs for $98 shipped last year. No idea how. just told them I wanted them for that price and they honored it.

And I am not sure about the new headers out there with the flex pipe between the two banks. It doesn't make much sense except for installation.

$1000+ is just too much for headers period!

Wait for someone to sell a used set for like $600 and jump on it.

Don't waste your time or money with the other headers...it'll cost you more in the end.

If you don't want to take the advice then go with those other cheap headers and see for yourself.

You get what you pay for? I'm so sick of hearing that.
There are exceptions you know.
Just past 2 years on my original XS & not 1 problem or noise & I used the gaskets & bolts that came with them.
And that' with the down pipe being unbolted on 2 occasions. Once for IM mount install & once for IM uninstall.
However with all the talk about XS recently, I'd get CT's.

i had the same predicament when i was trying to get headers and i was confused but I knew i wud pay someone to install it (~$200), so I wanted it done right.
Needless to say, I went with CT becos i wud just have to do it once.
Bought 1 off BM. Used for $650 and no problems.....................
so..........I say if u can install ursef and have the time, do whateva probably cheaper headers (xs, ss, ) If NOT just wait and keep checking BM and u will always find ONe sooner or later.
I know I paid almost 700 for mine but I am pretty sure if i wanted to get rid off it I can f at least still get $600.. (used) so u see...... its all good.

so .............. it makes sense again and again.....................

I don't see how your math adds up...?

When I've seen used sets of Comptech headers for $500-$600.

You won't be saying that if you had to remove them to pass a smog!

Which others have had to do...so....

I agree for the most part. The welds are important. But like you said; if it cracks it won't take out you or your engine! The welds on the CT are not $600.00 better than the XS, in my veiw. I have a far more exspensive hobby.(No, I don't shoot smack) So I won't be spending that much for any header.
