Get all new gaskets. The j-pipe to cat gasket you can get at an autoparts store. Just bring the old one with you.

Got the stuff.. wrapped the headers.. DAMN this shyt takes a long time. I did it this time without wetting it and it was easier in my opinion. I put it on as tight as it could be put on . period .

And I left the lil comptech badge sticking out to see love it.

Now I just need to wait for my damn j pipe to dry the F out.

ok so the cat gasket is 2.5" ?

and the 2 headers ones are 2.25" ?

and then 6 32 by 10 mm bolts?

someone correct me if i am wrong plz.

Just need to grab those pieces and then spray the header set with the silicone stuff and let that dry for a day or so and then voila... ready to rumble.

Friday is my goal to hit.

I believe you are supposed to wet the header wrap so it goes on tight.

yea I did that and it just makes things harder. I did it for the J pipe but the headers I did dry and it turned out better.. And it's a lot CLEANER..

Anyways so tomorrow I spray the shit outta the header system. then I'm gonna install it on weds or thurs prolly!!!

got the bolts and the 3 gaskets for $16.92.

The 3 o ring gaskets are 2.5" in case anyone was wondering.

I will post the results when its done..

The car alreadys breaks the tires loose in gear when the roads are just a LITTLE bit wet...

mmm mmmm sexy this shall BE.

Will I BE OK??? please please

So I decided to take both of the header flanges and put them together to see if they lined up 100% flawlessly and they ALMOST do.. but they're off by i'd say approximately 1mm or so.

Will this cause a problem?

Or will this all be irrelevant as I tighten down the bolts on the headers to the heads??

PLZ tell me it's ok

THE LAST thing I want is a frigging leak from all this damn money and work i've been putting into my car.

Can someone please shed some light on my issue so i'm no freaking out here

SERIOUSLY APPRECIATED..

never heard of that. i put mine on dry and kept the wrap tight. doesnt move at all.

op, r u using metal zip ties to hold down the wrap at the ends? please dont use the circle type clamps (hose clamp), or the plastic zip ties.

hahah yes I am using the ones that come from DEI and I used a shit load of them to make sure nothing moves.

Like I said I am not going to do this a second time..

Question is it ok is my header flange (where it meets the heads) is off TRUE by like 1 millimeter ??? literally like a millimeter?

That will become flush when I bolt it down to the engine correct??? or am I screwed?

Please tell me it'll go flush!!!!

have some play??? howso I'm talking about where the 3 primaries come from the main flange off the heads. That fange is off by roughly 1 millimeter.. well when I line both of the 2 together there is a 1 mm gap..

that should bend true right?

1 mm as in when it sits flat on the heads my guess is one side will be like 1 mm off the heads... so when i bolt that down it'll go flush..

RIGHT?

Make sure when you install everything you dont tighten all the bolts until you have everything together, that way you still have play with everything.

Im sure you know that though

See what youve been missing out??

The headers were one of the first things I did to the car. Did you reset your ECU before the test drive?

Its not crucial, just speeds up the relearn process. You changed the configuration of the motor, and the ECU now has to relearn the parameters. Its quicker for it if you reset it, but as I said, its not crucial.

JUST used the spacer... and it works amazingly.. no problems.

No tq wrench used for the headers or the manifold too. and everything is working 100%.

I was debating to reuse the metal intake manifold gasket but opted not to.

I also re-used my exhaust gaskets too and they sealed perfectly!!

fucking I love comptech, that god I had NO snags. No fucked up bolts or nothing. Just smoothing sailing.
