Build dates on our cars, how do you tell?
There was an old topic, but I can't find it!!! In it, someone broke down what all the hash of numbers and letters amounted to...
The left doorjam only had the VIN, no build date!! Thanks guys!

The build date is NOT part of the VIN. The build date is on a seperate sticker in the same area. Never heard of anybody not having one but one neva know do one?
For example here's the VIN with the chassis codes for the US models taken from the Helm.
19UYA423*1A000001
a. Manufacturer, Make and Type of Vehicle.
19U: HONDA OF AMERICA MFG., INC., U.S.A. ACURA, Passenger vehicle
b. Line, Body and Engine Type
YA4 - Acura CL/J32A1 (Premium), J32A2 (Type S)
c. Body Type and Transmission
2: 2=door Sedan/5Speed Automatic
d. Vehicle Grade (Series)
3: Base
4: Premium
5: Premium with Navigation System
6: Type S
7: Type S with Navigation System
e. Check Digit
I haven't a clue. Does anybody know about this one?
f. Model Year
1: 2001
g. Factory Code
A: Maryville, Ohio Factory in U.S.A.
h. Serial Number

if i recall correctly, theres a date (mm/yy) on the inside of the door jam.
i remember 'cuz my build date was 3/00 and i'm purty sure i didn't do a vin# scan.
