EBCs seem to get constant excellent reviews...especially among the miata crowd...re950 and s-03 whats the diff in fitment issues? Tires all follow that width/aspect ratio/wheel size standard

re950s and s-03s are the same manufacturer and they do all use the same standard...
No, you only have to get your wheels balanced after getting new tires.

The red stuff is supposed to be used for the street/track on miatas...my friend has either the hawks or the porterfields on his CL with the brembo big brake...they still take their toll...but then again that is the price you pay for having a car that weighs 3500 lbs.

Tires... don't know about the 950s yet. The s-03s are killer. T1S are excellent. All season -- there are some good new tires...
As for pads... When pad time comes, I'm going to get some Porterfield R4S. Good friction coefficient cold and hot and I've tried them and they feel great.
YMMV

well here's the update if anyone cares...
I had the Potenza RE950 installed today along with EBC Redstuff brake pads for the rear...ordered from tirerack...very good service and fast delivery
235/45/17 H93
tires installed with no problem...fits well
pads had to be sanded down on one side...there were like 4 or 5 round nobs...after sanding pads fit with no problem
road test: no more losing traction...no more VSA blinking
and this was in the rain too
obviously much improved over stock (had 18K)
couldn't really feel much difference with new pads...stopping power probably improved minimal at best
new tires does improve braking a bit
looks are very nice...very aggresive!
total cost: around $900

Where is my super sauce?
235/45/17 H93
Even though few of us ever push their tires to the actual speed rating (and Acura has limited us to under 150mph), I thought that the speed ratings also reflect tire build as well as the ability to withstand disintegration at racing speeds.

it's a all season tire (good in snow)...i think that's why the H rating...i could have gone with the S-03...but i hate snow ...and i don't want to switch tires between seasons

Our stock tires, for instance, are all season tires and have a V rating.
Off of Tirerack.com: Dunlop SP5000, Michelin Pilot Sport A/S, Pirelli P7000 Supersport, Sumitomo HTR+, Yokohama AVS dB are all M+S rated in 235/45-17 size and W, Y or Z rated. The Michelin Pilot Sport A/S have received excellent reviews on this site for four season performance. Others on this board have said that the Dunlop SP9000 works well in wet and snow even though is is not M+S rated. Tirerack.com doesn't even carry Falken or Toyo's which also get good ratings.
I'm not trying to frown on your purchase, I'm really just curious if there is a build quality difference in H versus V rated tires and if that can effect the handling of our vehicle. Personally, when replacing any OEM part I would always go with similar or higher ratings.
