brake rotor - wayne , Jens, anyone

Okay , I have around 24K miles on my car and under any kind of hard ( going more than 50mph) braking the steering wheel shakes pretty bad. Is this somethin that they should cover under warranty or is this something that I will just have to get done myself . Just wondering whether to take it to the dealer or just get it done elsewhere.

24 k is a fair amount of mileage so it is up to your dealer to decide if they will cover it under warranty or not.It is worth bringing the car in and at least trying to see if they will cover it.Jens

Same thing happened to my last car - 98 3.0CL. Had to have the front rotors and pads replaced. Could have them turned because they were under spec.

Thanks guys. I will try and see what they say . I dont break real hard and dont race but then again everyday stop and go traffic is pretty hard on brakes too.
Does anyone here have drilled and slotted rotors and form where did you get them .

Astroboy got them gorgeous Brembo's. I even think he got them to fit if I'm not misinformed.

Brembos have to be numero uno mod in function and sadly price. (re: no SC is why)

Jens,
Your answer was lame ! I'm sorry ! My steering wheel has vibrated since day one ! TOO much complaints about this topic ! Why are these brakes lame ? I have to be honest, that my Accord coupe has WAY better brakes than my CLS !
Disappointed !

well thanks guys for all the comments. But my question now is why is it so bad. I have a 99 Maxima SE with 40K miles on it and it still doesnt do this. Are our brakes really that badly designed?

It is up to the dealer to make the decision at 24k miles. I would say that if the pads were still good (say 50% or better), it could be covered. If the pads are worn out- then its probably just time for a brake job.
In my opinion, there does seem to be a lot of this, even a lower mileages. There is a service bulletin for the TLs addressing this issue and revised brake pads are being installed. Time will tell if this will work. Haven't tried them on a CL yet.
BTW Fotis- Jens was just saying that on these cars, brakes can normally wear out in 24k miles- particularly in our area. If you have had the problem since early on- your dealer should have fixed it- get after him to make them right!

Wayne,

How did my name come up ??? My brakes are fine, I have 17k miles, I dont beat my call too much, especially the brakes, I've never had to push them hard ever.

I'm thinking that Wayne glitched the poster's name in reference to the post which called Jen's response "lame".
The "lamecaller" was Fabvsix and not you. Wayne may of figured that since posters name begins with an "F" than it must be Fotis.
