Brake pads are covered under warranty right?

Just checking...

Brake pads are covered under the factory 4/50k warranty correct? I noticed a little squeal for the 1st time today. I've got 42k miles on my CL...time for new pads.

my dealer warrantied mine when I bought the car as a "perk"

It all depends on your dealer...for the most part they are NOT covered

brake pads, no. Defects in the mechanics that move your brake pads, yes. For example, unusual wear, uneven wear, rapid depeltion of pads, etc, can be the result of bad caliper, brake booster, rotor, all of which are covered and if found defective, would get you new pads too.

Pads alone, no.

Brake pads are a wear item. Not covered under warranty.

I thought I saw people who said they were replaced under their warranty...I guess that was just a dealer add-on. Thanks guys.

The dealer charges $180 per axle to replace the pads.

If you have any mechanical ability at all, do the job yourself. It's super easy.

And I think you were seeing people get their rotors replaced. Although, pads probably come with the new rotors.

I haven't seen nor heard of anyone just getting pads replaced.

Your pads have been replaced??

I've gotten my rotors resurfaced about 3 months ago. I don't know if they replaced the pads or not though.

Just had my car serviced yesterday. Dealer turned my front rotors and replaced the front pads under warranty.

The TSB covered replacing the "bad" pads with "good" ones and turning the rotors (or replacing them if out of spec.). Once the bad pads were replaced there shouldn't have been any more activity under the TSB..

New pads should come with new rotors. Why dealers are replacing good, but just worn pads under warranty is beyond me.

I don't know if he replaced them or not. I just heard them squeal two or three times this morning when I was leaving the parking lot. I didn't hear it for the rest of the day. I'm going in for an oil change and to get something else fixed. I'm going to have the dealer look at the brakes and see what's up.
