Bought a new '01 CL-S need advice

Hello all,
Just joined the Acura family last night and had a couple of fairly urgent ?. First off they really tried to push the teflon paint protection opton for I believe 750$ approx. Is this worth its weight in gold... I have untill Fri. to decide If I want it. Secondly I paid 1800.00 for the 100,000 mile warranty ~ did I get shafted? I read on this forum of people paying as little as 8-900$ for the same warranty?? Well thanks in advance for the help..

Welcome aboard! Pass on the teflon as it's a waste of $. 1,800 for the warranty is excessive IMO. What color is your car?

Thanks..

Got a gold one! Think I was able to save quite a bit of money as it had been marked down a couple of times. IMHO I like the gold as it stands out a lot more from all the other basic colors.

regards,
KJ

if you want something for protection, got to www.zainobros.com and get a kit of that stuff (z1, z2, z5, z6, clay bar, and some other stuff i dont remember) for a little less than $100. it may sound expensive for car polish, but it's good stuff.

and it smells good too!

Welcome to the family. I think you got shafted on the extended warranty, $1800 is way too much, usually around $1000 from Acura. Make sure you start waxing your car but all this rain doesn't help. There is a bay area meet on December 15th in Santa Clara at Mercardo. Hope you can join us. Best of Luck!

WAY TOO MUCH

I got my teflon coat PLUS 20% window tinting for $450. You're getting raped. I actually didn't get it but the guy I bought the car from did. I can't tell if it's doing anything....

The extended warranty is too high. You are paying top bucks for that. If you can get your money back, I would. Keep the money and buy the extended before you regular warranty expires.

Also, you can shop around and probably get it cheaper. Usually, if you bargain before the paper work is done, you get it cheaper.

But, what did you pay for the car? Maybe you saved a ton of money on the car to offset the high warranty cost..

I paid $1,000 for my extended warranty

I was quoted 1050 for the extended warranty and the guy told me it would have been 900 bucks if I got it at 20K miles and I am assuming it would be around 750-800 bucks if u get it brand new!!
Go get your money back!!!

skip the teflon crap...its a rip. as for the extended warranty, shop around the bay area. there are at least 4-5 other acura dealerships and they might offer the warranty for cheaper than 1800, which seems like a lot to me. btw, as metioned B4, bay area meet on 12/15/01 at Mercado theathers off of 101 in santa clara, near Great America. Hope to see u there...

thanks for the advice

Stayed with the warranty because they told us it was more $$ because of the free services every three months (oil,filter-clean the car, and some 40 point inspection oh ya lubing the chassis was there also)?? Said it was a revamped or new offering?? Who knows but in the end I decided I sure wouldnt regret having a warrantee 60k from now. Thanks for the advice.. love the car and will post a pic its sitting in the garage shining! Thing is fun to drive!

Co-worker with the S2000 is going to get me a good deal for the CAI - his 2000 looks nice (exhaust, headers, CAI, Lowered on19's) way too many aftermarket parts for Honda's I havent been this exited since I bought my wrangler new, and started the rockcrawler metomorphisis!! Oh ya my wife thinks the car is hers!! Bwaahaaa haaa (dont tell her I said that)..

I think i saw a write up on how to change the lower lights to the matching HID's ?

night all..

Congrats, and welcome.

Dude, you think you got the bug? Check my sig......

Fantastic car, I agree. Almost 40 years old and still can't believe it's sitting in the garage... I'm like a kid in a candy store with it!

CAI is a great investment. It took me awhile to get around to getting one, but on my Civic Si it made a world of diff. Well, that and a frankenstein VTEC head swap! I was the one who coined the term "LS/VTEC mini-me" from my days at hybrid.org

Can't seem to get enough of these damn Honda's.......

Enjoy - Jim

pics of the new PIMP gold sled

Well thought I would show off the car a bit...hard for me to over-rev this car as it seems such a luxury car I feeeel bad treatin it like a sport car.

Pretty much a stocker 'cept for the rims on the car. I have an extra pheonix gold amp and two solobaric 10's I would like to stick in the truck...is this going to be possible with the standard deck?

KJ
