BMW M5 (drool)

Wow what a car, my friend finally let me drive his M5, I think it is all-stock, that thing is amazing, no way anything stock in its class can beat it, i doubt anything souped-up in its class can beat it, must have car, Smoked List: MB E430, Acura 3.2TL,
Mustang (not sure if GT) and a bunch others I cant remember

I heard a rumor awhile back that because of weight factors and such that the new M3 may actually be a little faster than the M5. There is about a 67hp difference.

well of course there is a price difference, one is a 55,000$ 3-series the other is a 75,000$ 5-series

these prices are not MSRP but still cheaper then you'll ever be able to get one

The better part with an M5 instead of M3 is that there is more room, no matter, the M3 is very capable also

Thanks for the times. I was alway curious if the rumor was true. By the way, I thought M3 was 333hp, not 330hp.

Actually the new M5 is $69,900 and the new M3 is going to MSRP around $48,000. I tried to get on the list for the new M3 but its a damn 2 year waiting list!! Oh well, Im moving on down to an 2002 Acura TL-S this spring. Not an M3 but its got good power and navigation!!!!! I won't be lost anymore!

If you want the E46 M3 I would wait a few years. Get one slightly used after they have removed all the new model gremlins and also avoid the huge mark up.

I am not rich so I will always likely be buying used //M cars. My track addiction has me thinking stroker E30 325i in a year or two. 2750lbs and 220+hp would be fun.

New M3s are nice, but RWD hard to deal with on crappy roads. I've tried, and it wasn't fun.

I agree with 91M5 about the buying new ///M cars. However with the quote below, I completely disagree with that. RWD is the most fun you can have! I only wish the TL-S was a RWD car. Can't have everything, damn I hate it when that happens!

damn, if you want to buy an m3 the only way to get one now is to buy via the gray market...I had basically bought a new m3 for $44k on the gray market, but sold the place to someone in France. I also was on the waiting list in houston sold that too.
but the Tl-S is very nice...now that is something that is a lot better than an Is-300 and should be direct competitor for the bmw's way over-priced 330i. I think Toyota Lexus was just trying to see how well the IS would do in the initial sales...so far they sell almost everyone they make. I think it will be the same with the TL-S.

ps. when you decide to sell your m3 or before you trade it in let me know...I am looking for a toy to play with...And since it is getting tough to find a used 97-98 supraTT that isn't ridiculously priced...I wouldn't mind settling for an m3 in decent condition...even though I am focusing on a 95 m3.
