1. Yeah, but you know, I had a spoiler and I really miss it. We'll see, thats last on my list.

3. No, if anything, maaaaayybe a 6 pounder, but I like the 3 lb one now enough.

4. Rides just like stock, Ima get the sways first, then the shocks if I still feel the rear of the car floaty aroiund turns. Otherwise, the ride is smooth and noise free, so not-harsh.

 

Congrats on the boost. 3lbs is nice but I can confirm 6lbs just rocks.

BTW, I noticerd the belt wants to jump off again, caught it right in the nick of time after a 15 minute drive. Seems like every 200 or so miles, the belt wants to jump towards the SC. Driving me nuts, can't drive with a clear mind.
Any suggestions?

For performance would you reccomend 18s or 19s in this wheel? My car is lowered 2"on stock rims with coil overs.

 

18" would be the more performance orientated wheel, but only by a little, while 19" would be more stylistic.

BTW, belt was coming off, and got worn out this time under 200 miles. i popped the hood and saw it before it completely came off.

Pulley isn't aligned properly.

Which belt are you using?

 

The belt will stretch a little so after 100-200 miles you should re-tighten the belt.

 

That's exactly what I was thinking. I'm sure you've examined the pulley, but can you see any marks or knicks? Even if properly aligned, it may no longer be balanced properly, especially from previous use (if it was used). Anyway, good luck, man!

 

We used two pulleys off of two cars that claimed to have kept the belt on when the pulleys were being used previously. I weas using a used belt that was in fine condition, and we torqued the tensioner bolts fine, it was even marked on the plat to make sure it didn't shift. I'm looking right now for a new shop that can maybe have a better grasp of whats going on. i'll buy some new parts and stuff, and have the unit reinstalled, but i don't want to have to take this thing out and go9 back to stock. Swear I have the worst luck with performance mods.

BTW, I used 2 gatorback belts that both jumped after 200 miles each.

 

The pulleys are not lined up properly. Just because the pulleys worked on another car doesn't mean they will work on yours. This is because of the way the blower is mounted. There is some play in the mounting of the unit and as such the alignment at the end of the shaft with the alternator pulley can be affected. Comptech provides washers for the sole purpose of adjusting the placement of the shaft pulley to allow it to align properly with the alternator. Since the pulley is jumping off towards the motor it sounds like the a washer or two needs to be removed in order to move the shaft pulley to the right a few millimeters. You might need to go to a show with a laser that will check the alignment of the pulleys.

What size gatorback belt? The 24.5" or the 25.4"?

 

DAMN Ron! I think that car would look awesome parked next to mine in ATL. Kind of makes me jealous!

 

I know the gatorback belt was the one from the auto that came off the seller's car. Both the brand new one and the used one. And there are no more washers, but I did notice the pulley used by the mechanic and the pulley that camne with the kit from the previous car were different.

So lets start with the right belt size and washers spacing the kit the other way. what else do you suggest? and do you think there is a dealer in the NY / NJ area that seems experienced enough to solve this for me?
I'm 15 min from the GW bridge.

 

 

The belt is a 4040245 (24.5") Goodyear Gatorback. Sometimes with the HBP since the alternator pulley is slightly larger the 4040252 (25.2") belt was required. If you are using the 4040252 belt with the standard boost pulley you are going to have problems.

If you say there are no more washers do you mean there are no washers installed and no washers in the kit? Or are all the washers you have already installed? Removing the washers will push the shaft pulley to the driver's side of the car. Which based on your comments seems like you need to do. As far as finding a shop I think you're on your own for that one. In no way am I familiar with the NY/NJ area.

 

Yeah, I believe thats the belt I had on. Well, looks like Ima need a few more belts while I toubleshoot this thing.
When i said I had no washers, I mean, that the SC pulley was directly bolted on without any washers / spacers to remove.
My next question was since i have two pulley's, what if I took one to a machine shop and told them to mill off 1mm at a time between test runs to see if that fixes the alignment, since it seems to be jumping toward the inside towartd the SC shaft. You think that would work just as well as putting 1mm spacers behoind the 4 allen key bolts bracing the SC?

Also, is there a good place to get the 4040245 (24.5") Goodyear Gatorback belt from online, I wanted to order a few?

I know in the instructions it says there 2 different alternators, and one of the alternators needs that washer spacer to align properly. If you buy it new, it comes with the spacer. I dont know if thats your problem though

 

Jeezuz, now I can't even get the damn pulley off the Blower, That thing is stuck on hard. I'm about to smack the first person i see I'm so pissed.

 

I would not recommend having the pulleys altered in any way.

I also would stay away from the Gates belt. I had lots of issues with them. Also don't over-tighten the belt or you'll have this happen:

 

That looks really ugly steve...how often did this happen to you with the belt popping off and destroying the pulley.

 

update, for those who potentially might have this problem in the future:

I milled off 2.5 mm off the base of the pully that faces the SC, and guess what, the belt jumps the other way opposite direction of the SC. I am going to add a 1mm spacer / washer to fill back the spacer and see if it stays put. I also need a new belt just to make sure since the old belt was worn out a bit. Hopefully I can push the car and not have to worry about belts jumpoing in either direction.

 

I had the belt jump 2 or 3 times during the first 2 weeks. Then I overtightened the belt which caused the tensioner pulley to break. After that I had no problems.

 

Glad you hopefully got it figured out.

 

So what was the solution, did you replace the tensioner? Was that what caused it? because if this doesn't work, I'm going to start replacing parts.
