brakes

I think that is really the only brake kit that anyone else on this board uses. I didnt know they cost 1300 but from what everyone says they are worth it. Ilke the carolina blue ones, if you have a complementing color run with those b/c everyone has the red joints. OH yeah doa search of the pictures or whateva and you will see someone with those on thurr.

Not true... I've got the Brembo BBK that CompTech sells. It's almost twice the cost, but a better design and quality - IMO. Don't get me wrong, the Rotora BBK seems to be of good quality.

IMO - Absolutely!!! I paid $2689 installed.
  • Brembos have a floating hat on the rotors that help center rotors, provide better cooling & isolation and minimize wear
  • Cross-drilled rotors run cooler than slotted
  • Both the calipers and rotors are much lighter than OEM. Not sure how much lighter they are over Rotoras

No more warped rotors, and stops like a champ. wheels cleared the BBK too without spacers. (test fitted the 18" too, in reference to nitequills setup, still fits without spacers)

I'm really pleased with the my Rotora set up. They are great stoppers. Brembos might be the better setup but Rotoras are 1/2 the cost(almost). -and then some.

My car is the white CL-S pictured above by Ron. The BBK is by far the best investment I have made on this car (yes, that's even over the headers and suspension).

The stock braking IMO sucks on the CL.

Great investment IMO. Rotora kit is reasonably priced and replacement rotors won't break the bank when you need to replace them. The one piece rotor is not as good of a design as a 2 piece with the floating hat. Like cls6sp03 pointed out, the Brembo kit is a superior design but more expensive. Just depends what you're looking for. I would imagine that the differences in the kits would become more of an issue on the track. Less mass in the Rotora rotors will mean less heat capacity. On the street, you probably won't see it.

I did a 0 to 80mph to 0 run with one of my friends to show him what the SC and Brakes could do. The look on his face was priceless.

I don't believe that Rotoras calipers would clear the OEM rims. The Brembos definitely not.

My Rotora kit fit behind the stock 03 CL-S wheels with the help of a 5mm spacer.

stock 17 inch rims need a 5mm spacer... aftermarket 18's MIGHT need a 3mm spacer...

that is what I run on my set-up.

If anyone needs that spacer I bought it for a customer who bought the ROTORA BBK from me locally, but we didn't end up needing it. So if someone needs that H&R spcaer send me a PM b/c they're usually out of stock.

Hold on, let me get this straight.....

You pay $1500 for just 2 calipers and 2 rotors + pads, lines, and brackets????

So if I want to do the front and back, it's gonna cost me $3000????

Damnit, I'm retarded I thought the BBK included the setup for all four wheels.....

won't work....the rotor won't be the correct one, and the caliper probably will not mount to the stock bracket since it is for another car...

They BBK is only for the front wheels. A BBK on the rear wheels is fairly pointless as the front brakes do about 75% of the work. If there was one for the rear, it would be more looks than anything.

I didn't realize the difference between front and rear braking was that much.... 75/25? Anyway.... doesn't it look a little too weird when you have drilled/slotted rotors with bright calipers on the front, with stock rotors and dusty calipers on the back? Or are there cheap solutions to this aesthetic trainwreck?

I'm a as far as this mod is concerned

I too have the Rotora BBK kit for the front and i couldn't be happier. No problems after 3 months and these suck bit down hard on every stop. If you don't want to go the extra mile and get the Brembos, this is the kit to go with.

Running with the stock 17’s I also needed a set of 5mm Wheel Spacers.

Rotora mentioned that a BBK for the rear wheels is in the works. about its overall feasibility but it sure would look cool.

Ron,
We mounted the wheels after the BBK install and found that the clearance too inadequate (~.5mm). We decided it was safer to use the spacers. Dustin doesn't mind the extra wide stance anyways.
