Bi-Xenon HID lights for CL?
From reading the various threads here, it sounds like sooner or later there's a good chance I'll have a ballast go out on me, although so far my headlights have been fine in the 8 months I've had my 02 CL. It sounds like it makes sense just to get one of the aftermarket HID kits when a ballast does go, as opposed to replacing the OEM ballast. I was wondering then, could I go with one of the bi-xenon kits, so I'd have both high and low beam HID? This would mean going away from the D2R bulb, but it sounds like if I bought a whole new kit, I could go with another bulb. My mom has a 2008 Caddy DTS that has the bi-xenon lights and they blow away the output I get from the CL's HIDs, on high or low beam. Would this work, or am I missing something here?

the highbeams are regular halogen so unless you want to rework the lenses to be hid and that will be spendy. using hid lights in non hid housings = big problems and you can get your car towed for safety equipment violation.

I don't think that the OEM high beams would have anything to do with installing a bi-xenon HID setup, since the bi-xenon setup uses the same bulb for high and low beams. I would think that you would just unhook the OEM high beams and forget about them. Then I'd just be using the part of the headlight where the low-beam is currently for both high and low.
As far as which bulb I could use for the new setup, does it really matter, or could I use any bulb, since I'd be buying a whole new setup (ballast, bulb, etc)? Would there be any issues with fitting the new bulb in the OEM headlight housing?

The problem is the stock low beam reflector isn't made for high beam application so the output you get when you switch to high beam may not be correct/ideal. You can of course try it out and report back unless someone who has already done this on the cl/tl can chime in.

you would have to rewire the housing because if I recall, when you click on the high beams its on a seperate circuit, you would have to competely change your lowbeam plug to work with brights on one bulb, not to mention I honestly dont think it would work.

You can use Bi-Xenons, but keep in mind that would require an entire retro fit.
That means pulling your headlights apart, cutting out part of the reflector, and mounting the projector in there.
Unless your meaning on Bi-Xenon isnt correct and what you want is HIDs in your highbeams, yes you can do that as well. But the reflector isnt made for HIDs, so you will have glare and because of the short use of high beams, the lifespan of HIDs in the highbeam will be shortened. Youre better off getting hyper-white 9005 bulbs for the high beam.

Im doing HIDs in the place of my stock high beems in 3 months or so "after christmas" I think it will be way better visability. Im probably going to do some kind of DIY on it
CIVICDRIVR: when you say glare do you meen glare for other drivers.
do you have a more detailed description of glare because I heard people say that there is glare on cars that dont have stock hids. To tell you the truth they just look bright and like there pointed in my eyes ???

Glare is what other drivers see. Halogens use different reflectors, thats why every damn Civic and Integra with PnP HIDs look like they have purple highbeams on all the time. They are easy to spot.
Look at projectors, they have a cutoff shield to block light from shining up into peoples eyes. D2R bulbs also have a strip on them that effectively does the same.
Halogens dont, and neiter do most PnP kits.

I think I might try getting a HID kit for the high beams, the bixenon idea sounds too iffy. Both headlights are working now anyway, so I don't need to anything yet, but putting in some HID high beams might be fun.
