Best Supercharger pulley setup

I just got a supercharger and I'd like to get the best setup the first time around.

I am thinking that the HBP and stock supercharger pulley (~6psi) is the best all around setup. I also am planning on getting piggyback engine management (AEM FIC), injectors, fuel pump and a new FPR.

I don't want to leave too much horsepower on the table, so I would consider a slight decrease in the supercharger pulley to inch the boost up. What boost is everyone running with engine management and no Intercooler?

Has anyone ran a custom pulley setup while still using the Underdrive UR pulley?

https://acurazine.com/forums/showthr...nk+pulley+size

Scalbert has a tremendous post on here about the different combos. I didn't notice anyone discussing compensating for the underdrive with the SC pulley. The regular SC pulley is a 3.8" and I have read about 3.5 and 3.3 setups.

So

UR Crank pulley/ Alternator Side
141 / 67 = 2.104 Ratio

HBP (3.28") / SC Pulley
83.3 / 100 = 0.833 Ratio

AND

say a 3" SC pulley would be a 3.8"/3" or a 1.26 ratio.

and a combined ratio of 2.21

So with scalberts formula that gives you 5.95psi of boost.

Am I missing something? I think it would be a lot easier to change my SC pulley than my crank pulley. (Last time I took it off I wanted to off myself) Plus they don't make the stock size anymore AND you get to keep the gains from underdriving the accessories. (that's like 2HP!!!!!)

P.Diddy - I agree. Atco Raceway might be a good spot!

6-7psi. w/o an Intercooler, which is the route I am going to go with this time around.

I am still curious if anyone has replaced the SC pulley with a 3" version and kept the UR UD? and the other obvious question, where do I get this pulley?

R/T tuning did my camber and balancing when I installed the coilovers. They also tuned my Neo and got 252hp out of the setup, which I felt pretty good about. Good shop, and really the only one in the area. I think they charge 150/hour. Check out their site, they got all the rates up.

I'll let you guys know how it goes.

On a cold night I would see 7psi on the Comptech high boost pulley and I did have some detonation. I wouldn't go any higher than the HBP without some cooling or meth injection.

No, I wasn't. Only minor adjustments to the FPR were required to adjust static fuel pressure.

I owned 2 CL-S's in the past, both were supercharged at times, but that was in 2006.

SkillOB, If you want more protection get a meth kit, I know some people who have theirs kick in around 3-4PSI. Just so happens I still have a Snow Meth kit lying around somewhere. I'm certain you remember me, you bought my Competitions and Comptech Exhaust.

My experience was the same - problems of detonation in cold weather. When it's cold, the ECU doesn't pull any timing. Fuel wasn't a problem - timing was. With that same tune, I had no problems with detonation on 91 octane and 105 degree weather. Only ran into problems when it was cold. For the same reasons why the Mugen mods give you some HP are the same reasons why you get detonation when it's cold out.

How do you go about adjusting the Comptech FPR? I am thinking about going from the standard pully to the HBP but dont want to get it tuned if I dont have to.

This is my daily driver with about 100,000 miles on it and will only do if the engine is in good shape after the 105K tune up.

You losen the nut on the FPR set screw, then use a hex wrench to adjust the static pressure. I can't remember what it was set at for the HBP but I want to say 52psi????.

Search for "static fuel pressure" and you might come up with specific answers.

It's very important that you not overtighten the nut and which would damage the washer.
