Best NOS System Out There?
I'm looking into blowing my tranny...I mean I'n looking into purchasing a NOS kit. And I would like your opinions on which kit u like the most and which one is safe and will work for my CLS.
Price must also play a big part, so Venom being the safest, best, and the most costly should be ruled out.
So the one that I know are:
- NOS
- Nitrous Express
- Zex
- Or any other NOS u guys can think fo would be greatly
appreciated.
Oh and please include details on why you would chose that type of NOS kit and what are the benefits and dangers/drawback in that type of kit.
Tnx

Better safe then sorry...never list price as the #1 reason you won't buy something that can have potentially harmful effects to your car. Speed is not cheap.

Go for a NOS wet system, preferably direct-port. Zex is a dry system and the horsepower gains aren't as much as a NOS wet system. Example: a NOS 75 shot is putting 75hp to the wheels while a Zex 75 shot is putting 75hp at the flywheel. In addition I have heard that wet nitrous systems are safer than dry kits.

But seriously a wet system taps into the fuel supply and feeds fuel directly to to the nitrous jet. So that both nitrous and fuel are shot into the air stream.
A dry system shoots nitrous only intot he air stream and adds the needed addtional fuel typically by increasing the fuel pressure. So that when the fuel injectors open more fuel is supplied.

That typically boils down to individual preferences. There are pros and cons for both.
Most feel a wet system may make more power. But in many cases it is harder to install due to the fuel line tapping and supply to the jets. There can also be an issue with possible puddling or the fuel falling out of the stream which could lead to a lean condition. But this is rare.
Dry systems are typically easier to install but may make less power. Plus you can't run it too high because of the chance in locking or damaging the injectors by over-pressurizing them.

In addition, it will adjust the amount of fuel pressure to add according to the bottle pressure of the nitrous. (lower bottle pressures dramatically lower the flow rate of the nitrous causing a fuel rich condition and reducing power. On cold evenings you might run on the rich side. For optimal running conditions, it's best to keep bottle pressure at approximately 900-950 psi.)
The ZEX kit will always have perfect nitrous to fuel ratio even if you have a low bottle pressure because it adjust the fuel pressure according to how much nitrous is entering the throttle body.
Q: Wet or Dry?
A: Generally if you plan on going higher than 75hp you should go with a wet system & a L10 tranny upgrade. Other than that you will be fine with the dry setup.
Q: How does nitrous work?
A: Nitrous oxide is made up of 2 parts nitrogen and one part oxygen (36% oxygen by weight). During the combustion process in an engine, at about 572 degrees F, nitrous breaks down and releases oxygen. This extra oxygen creates additional power by allowing more fuel to be burned. Nitrogen acts to buffer, or dampen the increased cylinder pressures helping to control the combustion process. Nitrous also has a tremendous "intercooling" effect by reducing intake charge temperatures by 60 to 75 degrees F.
Q: Can I simply bolt a nitrous kit onto my stock engine?
A: Yes. There are systems for virtually any stock engine application. The key is to choose the correct kit for a given application; i.e., 4 cyl. engines normally allow an extra 40-60 HP, 6 cyl. engines usually work great between 75-100 extra HP, small block V8's (302/350/400cid) can typically accept up to 140 extra HP, and big block V8's (427-454) might accept from 125-200 extra HP. These suggested ranges provide maximum reliability from most stock engines using cast pistons and cast crank with few or no engine modifications.
Q: What makes a ZEX™ kit better than other brands?
*A ZEX kit is self regulating and adjusts fuel pressure according to bottle pressure.
*It is TPS activated, which means no throttle switch brackets to rig up.
*The control box houses the solenoid for a cleaner installation.
*Zex kits include a one year warranty.
*The convenience of toll-free support.
*Finally, a ZEX kit is the easiest on the market to install.
