If your looking for a quick, inexpensive, cosmetic mod, my vote goes to the PIAA running lights!!!! It took me awhile to figure out how to get the housing out, but once I did, 4 minutes flat and your done!! And they look so so so much better. I can't believe they even put those crappy lights in there to begin with!!
Question: why did they take the running lights off of the 2003s?? I think they look funny with just the hole there IMO

On my '98 ZX2 the lower resonator had a hole the size of a ball point pen to bring air into the intake (no shit). That's all it had to suck air in ... plus the baffles in the resonator ... It's supposed to quiet the car (which it did) but it's like putting a sock in a vacuum hose ... not helpful =)

Is this an easy thing to do?

I’m not aware of any actual tests that have been done, but I really don’t see how removing the resonator would produce ANY gains.
All I think it would do is make it a little bit louder like a true CAI.
That small hole isn’t actually passing any air, because it’s completely sealed on the other end.
It’s just there to “muffle” the air passing by the opening above.
And.....If you go through all the trouble to remove that son-of-a-bitch, you should just put a CAI in because you’re 3/4 of the way done with the install if you got that far.

It will cost you between 800-1000 for parts, install & alignment, but I feel it is a better value then the similarly priced headers.
The benefit of the headers will show up on the strip or street race, but with the S & S you will see the benefits on EVERY corner you take regardless of speed or driving situation.
Plus they have the aesthetic benefit of lowering the car too.
CAI is a nice do-it-yourself mod if you’re handy with basic tools, but the benefit is minimal (8-10HP) and it’s mainly for sound.
Wheels are a plus, but again mainly for looks.

Although I agree that headers produce a good HP/$$ ratio, I think that the best mod for the money might be tints. Suprised?
