Beat several sti and evos at the track

It was unbelievable how bad these people drove. Or maybe the track and conditions had to do with it.
It was 80+ degrees, 2700 ft elevation. I couldnt get a launch better than 2.299 which was what i ran pretty much the whole 4-5 runs.
My last run was with a wrx carbon fiber everything, and several boost mods. I also checked the times of the evos and sti's. They were almost a whole second behind. The only car there that was close was a lightly modded pontiac gto. He cut a 14.2, just like me. My mph was 99 flat. Remember this is with elevation and my 60 was not so good, as i have cut a 2.22 at this track without boost!
With adjustment, i basically ran a 13.8 at 101mph. Given better conditions, track prep, and if i were to actually lowe tire press. etc.. i think an auto should be capable of 13.5
This is with hbp of course.

Nice runs considering the conditions. I really want to run at the track to see what my baby can do in the 1/4 but I don't really know when/how to get to the track here.

You should have gone up to the GTO guys, those are my buddies. One of them is one of the vendors for my cars(PFYC). They were babying the GTO. It had a road racer suspension and I wouldn't exactly call it lightly modded. It had a nice blower on it(roots type). (everything else though was stock, including exhaust). They had to run it this way because everything powertrainwise has to remain stock so the blower could get the necessary CARB EO certification(smog).

Nice runs, so you ran a 13.8 corrected...that was what, a 14.3 uncorrected? That is what I ran!!! Damn, wish you had the blower when we were at the track together, that would have been some awesome racing!!! Congrats on the times!!! but work on that 60'!!!

Oh, and you beat STis and Evos with those times? The two Evo guys I know in Palmdale run 13.7-13.9 bone stock at that track. The only WRXs I've seen there are regular ones, not STis. Remember, I used to live down the street from there.

the last time i was at the track i was running quicker than most all the EVO's, STi's and SRT4's.

i had the exact same dial in as a modded STi. 13.20

in my luxo barge.

Power3dfx... nice runs. I would expect you to run a 13.6 - 13.7 at sea-level @ 102-103mph. Considering how our cars match up, that sounds about right. I should be at (well, was at)... 13.8-13.9 @ 100-101 with the mods that I had when we raced.

Need a driver to help hit 13's at LACR

Dave, i had my buddy there watching these evo' (2 of them) and 1 or 2 sti's, i cant remember. One evo and sti were blue, the sti had chrome 18's.

I asked both of them, the first evo driver ran a 15.4
The sti ran a little bit faster, but was still over 15's. I even saw their timeslip. They were not cutting better 60 footers than me! This says alot about their driving skill.
Alot of cars that race their, seemed to have come from elsewhere, so you cant just assume that the evo's i saw were from palmdale. i come from SM, some people i taled to came from glendale, and some even furthur.

Dave, i actually beat your time slightly. I ran a 14.26, which corrects out to 13.83 using .97

And i saw only one GTO, it was yellow.

Yes, that is the PFYC GTO. Only one mod, A magnussen Blower.

Sweet time on the 14.26. Different days and different conditions...I think it would be a drivers race between us, though my 60' was a lot better than yours(2.17), so that tells me your car is faster, you just need to figure out how to launch it better. Practice, Practice, Practice!!!! If you would have pulled a 2.17 you probably would be knocking on the door of a 13 sec slip at elevation.

Just wait for some cooler weather in the fall, and I think you can pull off an uncorrected 13 sec slip at LACR!!!

thanks for your input dave. the next time i go i will have an exhaust cutout hopefully, and newer tires. with a a 2.2 60 footer which i think is very possible, and just 20 degrees cooler weather, i also think i could get into the 13's. i would be very happy with a 13.9 which would be under 13.5 uncorrected.

i still dont understand why the gto was running such a low time. i would figure it could run a 14.4 with ease stock. a blower should of definately put it into the 13's. any idea?

My buddy ran shotgun on two runs. He summed it up this way....it was slow because the driver was babying the crap out of it, and secondly, the suspension is a road race suspension. My buddy runs 13.6 at LACR in his GTP, and he says the PFYC GTO is faster and pulls much harder. My buddy was going to make a pass, but they shut down teh staging lanes at that point. Another point is that with the blower and no exhaust or intake mods, it really doesn't get the full benefit. With the supporting mods it should easily be a 12 sec car.
