Well - As you may or may not know, I am totally against street racing....So I was letting my friend test out my car and we are coming down I95 by the Philadelphia Airport and this beemer (330) flies up right next to me and slows down....My buddy asks "Can I?" and I say Sure, but Im gonna be pissed if you kill me - So - with no cars ahead, He drops it into D2 and floors it....The Beemer kept up and pulled for a split second....By mid third gear, my car began to pull away slowly and the beemer gave up--My asshole friend then kept going to 135 ( which was very smooth by the way) and then he shut down


Kill nontheless ps - we later got next to the Beemer when exiting I95....It was a chick!

You mentioned that your friend dropped it to D2, so I am assuming that your CL is an auto-5? I travel on RT 95 every day, and the slowest car I've ever seen was at around 50mph. Personally, I think that if you dropped it to D2, you would've crapped in your pants?! Maybe you meant to say D4 or even D3?

Also, I have owned an Auto 5 CL-S and also driven a 330i auto. I can personally tell you that the 330 is HELLA faster at speeds above 100. Does headers and intakes really make that much of a difference? That's surprising.

 

I drop to 2nd all the time at around 50 to get the boost and upshifts when its 60. Dont see anything wrong with that.

 

Drop to 2nd during 50 is fine. But, I hardly doubt that he was going 50? The average speed on RT 95 is around 70.

When I had my CL-S, while driving on RT76 at around 70 mph, due to tranny problems, the car decided to shift from 5th to 2nd by itself. Eh .... the RPM jumped beyond the red line quite a bit and the wheels locked up.

Then again, if it was 50mph, I suppose it's possible.
