Beat a 2003 maxima auto!!!!!!!!

This saturday i met my freind driving his dads 2003 maxima auto. So im like u wanna get fucked up or wat. He's like whatver, he made a lame excuse about no tread. So we did a rolling start from twenty. I put my car in SS in 2nd and floor at his count of three. We but launch ahead and are tied, until we hit 45 my vtec ate the shit outta him till 85. I got about 7-8 car lengths on him it felt good kickin his ass!!!!!!!!!!

nice kill...03 auto Maxs run 7.5ish to 60, so 7 car lengths is about right.

03 Auto Maxima's run high 14's - low 15's. Same as a CL-S. So 7 car lengths sounds like he can't drive. The fastest Auto maxima can hit mid 14's stock. I would say race him again!

How can you not drive an auto from a roll? Is your right leg not strong enough? :sqnteek: He probably got one of the slower maxs.

Ronnie. '7.5ish to 60'.....ah no!! try 6.5ish to 60 for the auto. (Note Sig)

My bad, after looking at MT 2003s should run mid 6s. 7.5 was for 2001 (222hp, not 255hp).

These guys claim 7.4 for 2003, but they're probably just using the 2001 figure.

I read that same article but I think CR ran their acceleration test in reverse.

Manual shifting with an auto makes it very easy to screw up. And I manual shift my auto alot and believe me I have hit the rev limiter a few times. So he could have done that. And Im sure he could tell the difference between the new and older maxima. You can't get 2003 confused with a 2000 Maxima. to many differences to not know.

Very true, 02/03 Maxima can run with CLS/TLS autos with ease and vis versa it always kills me when drivers of either say they killed one, people should take these post with a grain of salt. Max advantage low to mid range, TLS/CLS up high.

With that said, then from a roll (RPM's up a bit), the CL-S has the advantage?

Up high say 60 to 80 roll but once the CL gets in that "tall 3rd gear"Max has advantage again. I love both CLS/TLS and Max(all sleepers) I have an 03 Max auto and 350Z auto and had a TLS. The TLS tranny failed 3 times and my wife said she was sick of it and sold it and purcahsed a 350.

I'm still going to go with the 'MAF sensor' theory on this one.

True...I've done it myself, but it was never said he was gate shifting. Oh, and I mean maybe he just got a slow 2003, not accusing pimpscls for mistaking it to be a 2000.

Faulty MAF sensor

If he just had it in D at 20mph it might not have downshifted into 1st if he didnt floor it all the way, although it should have. 20mph in 1st gear for a 2003 automatic Maxima is only 2800 rpm, so there is no reason it should not have downshifted if he floored it all the way.

Race him again and make sure he isnt a moron and manually shifting it. Go from a stop and I guarantee as long as his car isnt broken he will give you a very good run.
