BBK Brake Woes : (
BBK Brake Woes : (
So I'm driving along and start hearing a scratching noise on my passenger side brake. I get home and take a look and my cross-drilled/slotted rotor is scratched. I checked my pads a couple months ago and they looked fine. I also had my car in for routine maintenance since then -- no mention of needing brake pads any time soon.
Point of the story: I need pads and 1 rotor for my front rotora bbk.
Questions:
I know this could be my own dumb fault, but what's done is done.
Side-note: For some reason this makes me think of Tommy Boy:
Tommy: You're drivin' along, la-de-da, woo. All of a sudden there's a truck tire in the middle of the road. And you hit the brakes. EEEEEEEEE! Whoa, that was close. Ha-ha. Now let's see what happens when you're driving with the "other guy's" brake pads. You're drivin' along, you're drivin' along, the kids start shouting from the back seat, "I gotta go to the bathroom, Daddy!" "Not now, damn it!" Truck tire. EEEEEEEE! I CAN'T STOP!

Questions:
- Where do I buy these? I PM'd Excellerate -- figured he was the best bet
- Is there a choice in pads or do they only offer one for the BBK?
- Can I cut/turn the rotors? My step dad works at a machine shop and said he could do it no problem. I know this has been debated, but should I try it or just pay $350 for a new rotor (which I do not want to do.

Uhh what do you mean by a "scratched" rotor? Did you completely run out of the pad material?
Not sure about your questions, but I am sure you can buy a rotor from excelerate, and from what I gather there is only one brake compound for the bbk.
GL though, I'll ttyl.
