Battery died

I'm looking for a new battery and want the lightest fully functional.
The choices I came up with are:
Brailie B3121 21 lbs
Kinectik KR912 22lbs

My battery I removed weighs 36lbs

I think I'm going to leave the motor build alone for a little while.
Getting bored buying parts just to sit there.

I am going to do a lighter battery, hood, trunk, and seats next.
I need to be able to see some mods ,Like I said I'm getting bored.
So I'll save 14-15lbs on a battery
30-35 lbs on the hood and trunk
20lbs of sound deading on trunk
70 lbs on the seats
130-140 lbs lighter and the car will act like I added a new hp mod.

What do you think,
keep going on the motor build and be bored or start lightening up some stuff and be able to see and feel some mods ?

Are you keeping the stereo? If so, a lightweight battery is a no-go.

I think you know my opinion, but on a heavy fwd vehicle the best thing you can do for performance is remove weight. It does get kinda addictive tho and you will keep wanting to remove more and more.

I am not sure about the VIS hood and trunk based on quality, fit, and that they are still relatively heavy.

The seats you will just need to figure out how to mount them.

The ViS hood and trunk arent really that heavy. Worth the price? Maybe not.

As of right now I only have the box in the rear seat but,I have no amps in the car for months.
I figured I would go with the light weight battery for that reason and If I deceide to get the system jumping down the road I can always add another and a bigger alt.

These are the seats I'm going to get.

Only because they are all black and only weigh 25lbs.

I wanted the brides but they are like 680 plus ship and If I get the nice seats then no trunk.
I got 40minutes till I have to put a bid on the seats.
They are only 315 shipped. If they are crap I will just pass them on craigs.

My liteweight battery always started the car but I don't think they offer much reserve. When my tranny died I left my emergency flashers on since I was only halfway pulled off a country road. In just fifteen minutes all the reserve was used up, it started to rain and I couldn't even put up my driver's window. I went back to a full sized battery and I mounted in the trunk on the passenger side.

Yours must of had a very low reserve.

This one has the same 1hr 15 minute reserve as my currently dead regular battery.

Although I'm not sure what the amp ratings are durring the reserve time.If it's low there then they could die sooner than 1hr 15minutes equaled to a standerd battery.
Although sh!t happens, as of right now I don't plan on leaving any accessories on.

Just dropped a stack on the CF hood and trunk

OP do u have an underdrive pulley/?

cause i do and i also have a volt gauge and with no stereo on lights on and a/c on.. the car will get to 12v +- .5

so FYI folks.. underdrive pulley only helps kill the battery and having a system on top of that i would be really skeptical

anyways.. hope u don't have the underdrive on, or else the next battery will likely have the same fate.

I do have the under drive pulleys and I don't think it will cause any battery to fail.
The battery that died was in the car when I bought it 3yrs 3months ago and I have put alot of stress on it.
My car has 3 led lights and 2 neons that turn on as soon as I turn the key. I ran 2 1600w amps and I would leave the halo's glowing over night from time to time.
So I assume it is just time.
The battery and seats will be here tomorrow.
I just need to figure out what I am going to do for a battery mount/tray,my new battery is half the size so It will clean up that area a little bit if I can get a nice battery mount.

i would have got 2 6v optimas and mounted them as low as possible in the trunk. A little better weight distribution and placement would go further than a few lbs saving. Not to mention better battery.

Battery is in with a little drilling and triming of the hold down.
I will either trim the battery tray or have one made.

between the battery, the lower battery box,the piece cut from the hold down and a wire loom holder removed and not using the the mounts that came with the battery i saved 16 1/4lbs.
With a trim to the tray possibly take it to a 17lb loss.

A dead battery is leading to lightning the car.

What the hell is wrong with me.......

Battery is in.

On both sides of the battery is where the tray will be trimmed

This battery came with like a birth sheet saying it put out 13.1v and 848 cranking amps.
That's more cranking amps than my old battery's 785 and it's half the size.

relocating battery to the trunk just adds weight to the car with all the wiring u need to run. and that also increases resistance on flow of power from the battery so it's actually less effective than if it were right up front. to minimize resistance use the thickest wire, but that just adds weight.
it's a catch 22

Got my new seats.
Sitting in them the back is about the same width/hold but,the side supports seams a bit tighter witch is good to hold you in there.
But these are tight for a guy with adverage size legs.
Guys that buy slim leg pants would fit this alot better.
I put them on the bathroom scale a few times and have come up with a weight of about 24lbs each.
The listing said 25lbs each when I bought them but, I have not been able to see 25lbs no matter how I weighed them.
Both seats together weight less than 1 oem's.
I will get some real pics up in a few and weight of the oems monday to see how much weight is actually saved.
One thing I kinda like is the patches on them sort of look like carbon fiber so it should go good with my hood and trunk when they arrive.
Thinking about getting my woods re done again with CF this time.

A couple of pics.
I thought the matierial would've been cheaper but, it's actually alright.
Let's see if they hold up when installed.

They look decent, Just not a fan of the patches that look like carbon fiber. Although like you said it might look good with your other carbon fiber parts.

Mocked up one and test fitted the passenger side seat just now.
I'm liking the style switch.

It weighed about 55lbs, It's kinda hard to get a good reading of the scale holding the seat.

Got the passenger seat fully mounted. Forgot about the other side of the seat belt.
the mounts I made need to be cleaned up and painted and they should look good.

At what point does it cease to be a real car & is now a track car? Your taking all the comfort out of the car. This is your daily driver?

Just got done making the seat belt set up

Comfort is not that bad sitting on the seats. just the side bolsters are tight. If they don't widen up I will have some trimmed off.
I need room for my balls.
It's a daily car for now along with my other. But daily to me and others is not the same.I only drive a 3-5 miles total a day when I drive it.
On the weekends I drive 30-40 minutes out shopping either sat or sunday.
My son starts his first real school in the end of august. Then I will have a extra 100 bucks a week I'm paying for day care right now.
Then a new daily car will probablly be in the drive way.
When the motor goes in it will end up a 3/4 track car

I think I will start the drivers side tomorrow.

Is their a way to keep the seat belt light off from the drivers seat or should I just pop the bulb out ?

Called about the hood and trunk and was told they have the trunk and they are waiting for a new hood. The one they were sent had spider web cracks in the clear coat and they sent it back.
A excuse or not I'm glad to hear the middle man is not going to be sending me any f'd up pieces.

Drivers seat is now installed too all but the seat belt bracket.
The seat belt bracket is built but I ran out of light to bolt it in.

One good thing is the seat belt light does not even come on with out anything even pluged in. That's something good.
O yea, the cars a little bit quicker since the battery and the seats.
Can't wait for the hood and trunk.
drivers pic soon.
