Basslink worth it?

Im debating whether to buy the basslink or go with a 12 inch JL w0 sub. On this board, ive read great thing about the basslink, but others have told me it is horrible, so im not sure which way to go.

I dont know much about sound systems, but what would i need to purchase if i decided to go with a JL sub? And for those who have hte basslink, how much was it in all, wires, installation, etc...

Thanks.

the basslink is ok. the reason i say this is because i love it most of the time, but sometimes it really sucks. Every song has a different bass frequency and because of this some songs scare the shit out of you cause the bass is way to loud. Its great with CDs, but listening to the radio is a pain... even if the volume is low, the bass can be real loud. the thing definately has some balls for a 10" sub. I have the remote gain installed next to the sunroof buttons and i feel like i am constantly adjusting the sub's volume. If you dont want to spend a shitload of money on hooking your car up with a system then you might want it. I paid 220 shipped from www.ikesound.com and paid 100 to install it. Dont get me wrong, it is good, but i wish i waited a little and got a real sub with amplifier. sorry i sound like i a rambling... im tired! good luck

Basslink is fine for me. I also have to adjust some songs, that's just the way it is. I had to do the same with any stereo I had. However I have mine setup, so I can use the bass control on the head unit.

I have the basslink and purchased the remote control so I can control the bass in the cabin. It takes up little space, meaning I have lots of trunkspace. I mounted mine to a piece of plywood under the mat, and screwed it through the plastic trunk tray. Goodluck!

The basslink is a great addition to the current stock system- complements it very well. It also takes up minimal room, and the volume knob is useful- especially if you install it in the fog light switch.
