Hi there. I currently have a '97 3.0, and would say compared to my old 94 Mustang, it's pretty fast. However, I'd really like something quicker. I'm 17, so an luxury coupe isn't really what I need in my life. I could lose the heated leather if I add around 100 horsies, you know what I mean?

I'm looking for an ungodly speed demon, that I could have some fun with. I was looking at either the Lancer Evo VIII, or maybe a WRX STi. I like the looks of both, with the Lancer edging out the STi slightly, but the STi is slightly quicker in a straight line.

I know some of you went the 350Z/G35C route, did any of you briefly consider these cars?


I'd like to know what you guys think, any suggestions/information would be appreciated.

 

Go find yourself a decent CRX drop a type-r engine, then custom turbo!... Now that is freaken fast machine.

Get something that you can controll and not kill yourself in. Keep your CL, your only 17.

Not to mention the insurance on a brand new $30,000, 300 hp car would be atleast 3 grand a year (assuming you have no points) for a 17 year old male.

I'm 17 and I love the luxury coupe bit. I feel sophisticated when I drive it.

i agree w/ them on the insurance issue...mine is 180 a month and i'm a 22 yr old female! granted i have been in 2 accidents, the 2nd one i totaled the car and they were both my fault...but i've only had 1 speeding ticket, that was 6 years ago too, back in 97.
Insurance is something to consider...plus going off to college...you might enjoy the added bonus of NOT having a car payment...just think about it.

i like my CL too...i'm all about a slammed luxury car...the best of both worlds, IMO

ne ways I like fast, but not too fast, for me there has to be a compromise between luxary and performance (60-40, respectively). If you have the cash and/or will get the cash, id say go for a low-end g35 sedan or coupe. Or perhaps a cl-6 speed with navi.

 

SRT-4 and have $10k left to mod it.

 

ps. if you really just want suscide-die-before-20 fast, id get svt cobra...doesnt necessarily have to be new to blow your balls away

honestly I didnt even consider the evo or sti...why? Because I think they are UGLY as fck.... sure, they are fast as hell...and would definitely smoke my Z...but sometimes its all about the bitches.

 

I respect all opinions...... but for me seeing 20 Zs a day is getting real fucking tiresome.......can't stand to look at another one.

Not to mention, 90% of them are all some form of Silver.

Evo and sti are the UGLIEST THINGS I HAVE EVER SEEN. The wing on the evo is ungodly large and the sti is even worse. They look like a matchbox fast and furious designed by a 5 year old. They may be fast as hell but theres more to a car than speed.

Girls laugh at guys in cars like that where I come from.

 

for 30k, i'd keep my first gen cl, swap in a H22a, turbo it, and take the leftover money and build a phat ass home theater

I'm not kidding, the Evo is about the most fun I have had in a car overall.

I don't even expect the M3 to be as entertaining.

 

Cool. My friend just put new exhaust on his STi, and he's havin' a blast with it. He says it's much more comfortable on his daily commute (about 50+ miles each way) than most people would expect. I think he likes it more than his wife's Supra TT.

I skipped Import Wars this weekend, but another cat I know was supposed to bring his Evo...I'll have to see how he ran.

 

The STi would be a breeze to live with on a daily basis, the suspension is real compliant. From what I have found so far, the Evo is fine for daily driving as well. The suspension is stiff (more so than the STi), but its smooth on most pavement.

Without a doubt the STi spoiler is larger than the Evo's. Not just that, the STi just over 3inches shorter than the Evo. That makes the Spoiler look even bigger.

I don't dislike the STi, but like the Evo much better.....cleaner more aggressive design IMHO. Just dump the clear tail lights for the Evo VII tails.

For those that don't like the large Spoiler on the Evo, you can save $480 by going with the low spoiler (its standard).
