Badging?

Should I take the ACURA off of the trunk or leave it? I took it off of the TL and liked the look but I can't decide if I should do it on the CL.

The 3.2CL-S badging is already off and I plan on buying an 07-08 Type-S badge

just take A-C-U-R-A

or, do like my friends tried to convince me and buy a second badge set, cut them up, and have "The C-R-A-C-U-R-A"!

I'd like to see a pic of that.

I haven't debadged,...yet..., but when I do, I'll take everything off except the "A". I think that's the only badge with pilot holes.

It has been done....search, it might come up. I seen it somewhere before. it fits pretty well on the front part of the engine cover.

This is what I had at first...

Removed the 3.2 CL Type S...just for your perspective.

Then I removed the A C U R A...

Didn't have time to source the un-edited pic...but I think you can get the idea.

take it all off; i had the A-C-U-R-A for a while then ended up debadging it. It looks real clean with just the A

I like it with just the symbol. I'm going to do it just like that. How do you take it off? Does it show in the paint? Mine is NBP.

How's the adhesive on the back of these? On my TL it was a mess.
Will the floss/hair dryer get most of it off or will I need a lot of goo-be-gone?

I used a heat gun, dental floss, quick detailer, microfiber cloth and a lot of patience.

Use the heat gun to soften up as much adhesive from the letter backing.

Not to get the paint too hot...not sure how you gauge this but use your best judgement.

Slide the dental floss behind the letters to release them from the paint.

You will more then likely have some remaining residue which will require your patience to remove.

Do not try to scratch it off like I did in certain spots.

If you had a good detailing polisher you could polish it out...which would save your arm.

X2 --- i had a nice dirty outline of "3.2CLs", got all the residue off with goo gone, and thought it was a lost cause with all the dirt outlining it, but broke out a very light polish and cloth and made short work of it...

after it was done it looked like nothing was ever there...

I took my ACURA off the back when I had my car repainted this past fall. Oddly, my type-S badge didn't make it back onto the car either (shady painter, I reckon).

I like it much better w/o the Acura on there, and if they didn't put the 3.2CL tag back on, I'd probably take that off as well.

i first washed it. then I pulled the acura lettering off w/ a heat gun and fingers.
Then the glue by heating it and rubbing it off with varsol.
then i gave it two baths.
some discolouration is there, but thats to be expected from paint thats been covered since 2003. nothing some wash, compound and wax wont fix!!

BTW Ive used the floss method with great sucess too!
Older cars the glue will just roll and come off with the greatest ease, but the newer ones are usually harder for it to come off.

I think they have made some advancements in the adhesive over the years.

Those damn badges can really be stubborn!

All I used for the debadge was dental floss and goo-be-gone and it worked fine?

Although some people get some serious ghosting, I guess it depends on how much glue they put on from the factory lol

removal for me was easy

popped off each letter
used goo be gone and a microfiber towell
no heat required, took all of about 10 mins

left the 3.2CL type S on the trunk where it's supposed to be and the big [A] in the middle.

reason for removing the ACURA it was on crooked....

Has any one run in to issues with it not coming off completly(shadowing or what ever) I really want to take mine off but Im afraid of it still being outlined and looking like s**t.

My car is an 2001 NBP with around 110 000 miles on it.

Is there any one that has taken it off a car this color with this many miles on it?? or Both

i think it might be a combination of age and the weather its been through. mines a 00 and i have the dreaded ghosting. i thought about repainting the trunk but i figured i might as well just save that money towards a cf trunk.

if it ghosts and you cant get it off you can put the letters back on very easily, so go for it!

Did you try to do a high speed buff on it because if you get it professionally done they can melt the clear coat if its in the clear coat
