Bad night at the track

Well I finally took my car to the track and was very disappointed. I got in plenty of runs, but couldnt break into the 13's....I hate these stock tires. My best run was 14.01 @ 107mph....i love the fact that my trap speed is enough to get into the 12's, but no matter what i did I couldnt get a decent 60'. I even let the mechanic who worked on my car drive it a few times and the best he could manage was 14.03 @ 106mph. So, now i know my car is capable of low 13s or high 12s, its just a matter of getting out of the hole.

Then on the way back, i was messing around w/ the supra (@360whp) we brought and we did a couple of pulls and were neck and neck from 40-115. But a few miles down the road we got pulled over cause someone called us in. Luckily we both said we werent drag racing and got off with warnings. The only thing that is gonna make me happy is when you guys see the video of me and Fastvteccl from the street because that shows what my car can really do. Keith, you got for now mofo, but wait til i get slicks

yeah they did...the best i could manage was 2.7...not sure why...tried every trick in the book, but there is just so much torque...maybe i just got a really shitty set of stock tires....oh well my trap speed was good.....try to think positive

Re: Bad night at the track

I guess you have NOS? Trap is very high for a bolt on 6spd.

How come your getting 2.7 for a 60 foot? I got 2.3 on my stock tires. Maybe its your huge power difference, thats causing you not to get traction. One more question, why are you using nitrous? I would have waited for the supercharger, in order to do less damage to my car.

N02 is not damaging when used properlly and a 55 shot cant hurt much , zoot did you block the rear springs? when you launch did you notice the rear end sitting down? and maybe you should spray after you get out of the hole...oh BTW im not sure anybody can get 12's on a 106 but certainly 13.5's

Excellent trap speed, I am very impressed. Now just time to figure out and work on the launch when spraying.

Remember though......When you put slicks on the traps usually go down quite a bit. If you are spinning you will usually get higher traps. That 107 trap is good for a low 13 second 1/4. For comparison I saw a stock C5 Manual run a 13.05@108 recently at byron.

Type R, no i havent blocked the rear springs, for some reason none of my friends (myself included) can get my car to launch right. Like I said before, I tried every trick in the book and it spun 1st, 2nd, and barked 3rd....and trust me i wasnt hitting the nitrous too early b/c my all motor time i did the same thing, but didnt bark 3rd. Oh well....practice makes perfect

Actually that is typical. Autos are easier to launch and allow for more consitant times. A manual is much harder and easy to hose a launch. But when you nail one the time can be great, it is just hard to repeat.

That torque converter in the auto allows for slop but that slop smooths out the launch. For drag racing, particularly when bracket racing, an auto is often prefered. But on a road course the manual is king (disregarding then SMG tranny).
