Bad ground? Need help.

My 2001 cl type-s has an issue. last night the odometer section and sport shift gear indicator went dark. this morning, it came back to life, but only for a few miles then went dark. any ideas? I'm a long way away from a dealer, and was hoping someone has run into this before. As a newbie, i posted in the a/v electronics section but no replies yet. thought i would try here.

thanks in advance

ok, no but in all seriousness, you're not blowing any fuses so that knocks out the possibility of frayed wires that are grounding. electrical problems are a pain in the butt. if it were me, I'd take it to someone around your area that you can trust to look ati t and not charge you an arm and a leg. there's so many possibilities to where your issues may be on a problem like this.

I can take a look in the service manual later and see if those things share a common ground. I had a similar problem with my old Prelude. I tracked it right to a ground I had used to install a CD changer but forgot to tighten. Have you had anything installed on the car recently?

OK the gear indicator light and the LCD light for the odometer both go to ground G501. It's behind the console in the middle of the dash. Looks like it might be a bitch to get to. THere are a bunch of grounds that attach there to the same bolt. I can scan the diagram if you want to try and get to it.
