Bad front motor mount?
Bad front motor mount?
For years, especially noticeable in the cold weather, when pulling away from a stop, I hear this creaking noise coming from the front of the vehicle. It sounds as if it is coming from the front/passenger side but I'm not 100% convinced of that from the driver's seat in the cabin.
I'm REALLY sick of it and I'm worried it may be a bad motor mount. When those tear or "go bad", do they make those types of noises from a stop?
And it's not just from a stop - it seems that if the engine is torqued hard, it will make the sound, even if ever so slightly.
Ideas? I checked the front passenger wheel well about 2 years ago, looking for the sound, but didn't notice anything unusual.

Lots of things creak in the cold weather. I always thought that motor mounts leaked when bad, or were visually deteriorated. You usually get more vibration when they go bad even at idle. Have you ruled out suspension? push down on all sides of car and listen.
I experience the exact same symptoms with my CL in the cold Canadian winters up here. The first 2 or 3 turns from a stop make a pretty ugly sound from what seems to be coming from my front/driver in my case. I could never figure out what it was and since it only really happened a bit in the winter, I wasn’t that concerned.
Would be nice to know now that there is a thread started. Any ideas?

ice frozen up on parts, especially on the suspension, you drive and it breaks free, and also once the car starts warming up, it drops off
(also rubber does not like to work, and be quiet when it is extremely cold, so bushings, mounts, and stuff like that)
