Awesome race with a S2000 (where he lost)

Saturday night, I go looking for trouble. It is NOPI weekend here and there are thousands of hooked up rides in town. I am cruising about 70mph on the highway passing the airport on 75N and a S2000 with the top dropped and 2 dudes in it come over in the lane next to me. We start pacing. 75mph, we speed up, 80mph, we speed up so I was like "I wonder if he is going to hit it" and SURE ENOUGH, he hits!!!

I hit it and gain instantly, do not pass then as I go to 110mph, I pass convincingly. The funny part was the curve by Lakewood Freeway was coming up so I think "HE THOUGHT" I would slow down since I drive a "whale" .

I continue to hit the gas and get about 3 car lengths ahead of him topping off at 125mph. We slow down to about 80mph and we are next to each other again. I hear a hugeCLICK CLKUNK and the dude is REALLY READY this time and downshifts to 3rd I presume. I do the same with E-shift and he hits it again but this time I am even more ready. I pull on him instantly and am ahead by 1 car length before drag I am guessing hurts him and proceed to be 4-5 lengths ahead.

He starts flashing his lights and I slow down again, I lower my window and here is the conversation

"Dude, what the hell is in that"
"Nothing much"
"Dude, I thought I was gonna smoke you, that car is awesome, I love it"
"Thanks"
"I got a Porsche too but I just got this and I love this car'
"Yeah, the S2000 is a sweet ride"
"C U around"
"Holla"

It is great to talk to people after racing. By this time we are by Turner Field

(I name locations for those that live in Atlanta)

Nice kill!

After 110mph+ the wind drag just sucks for the S2K when the top is down.

GS400 is a V8?

My neighbor got one a couple months ago.. really sweet ride. And fast as sh*t too. He got a ticket the 1st week he had it.. doing like 85 on the on-ramp. Said he didn't realize how fast it was going.

Nice kill..

nice ride man, have you ever taken your car to the track? How much hp do those mods add? Does anyone make headers for your car too?

Nope no headers for the GS 400, they have em for the 300. At the track, my fastest time is a 14.7 so far (track newb) in 90 degree heat. Stock Gss dyno from 235-240 hp stock, mine dynoed last month was 246hp and 260lbs torque (something like that). I am a dyno newb too, I need to get into 4th gear where the gear ratio is 1 to 1.

S2000 is pimp, we had a guy with one go with us on the DRAGON'S TAIL in Deals Gap, TN and he was KILLING THOS CURVES!! We were behind needless to say.

I thought that the s2000 would take most of us. How can he beat one if his fastest time is a 14.7?? Am I mistaken?

Your welcome to stop by anytime, www.seloc.net, we meet 1st Sunday's every month at 2pm downtown across from the Friday's on Peachtree st. We will begin this month to meet 3rd Friday's at 7 or so at the Starbucks on Piedmont in Buckhead.

Before my mods (sways helped most) I could not do 100mph on that curve. Sways made it easier like night and day.

The S2000 lost so badly because there were 2 people in the car. That makes a huge difference in such a small car. Even our CLS has a clear performance drop when there are 2 people in the car.

I am not saying that the S2000 should have won. Only that it could go either way.

Cuz a GS400 is a highway BEAST! Don't let 14.7 fool ya. I know a GS400 with 20's and I believe only Intake that ran 13.9...Mike where are you?

Trap was 98mph, shifting from 3rd to 4th. I will be back at the track in Nov in North Carolina, colder air.

I thought the 13.9 was before the 20s though. Doesn't the dude also have a torque converter also?

Maybe it's making 400+hp and 400+tq for that tank to run sub 14's.

There are a couple of guys with TC and LSDs running 13.9s I think. It is rare though for any Lexus owner to go to the track. You should see people's faces when I go.

Car and Driver got a 13.9 from a stock GS 430 but I've yet to see a GS 430 at the track...

Oh I believe the 13.9s but just didn't think the guy, forget who it is, ran it on the stock wheels.

I ahte to say it, but on the highway, I could believe this story. Very nice kill. Like I ahve said many times, the car has a very specific power band. But verynice kills either way.
