AWESOME race with a highly-modded 911TT

WOW!! I lost, but barely... I'll get to it. I talked to the guy and he has the following mods:

911TT X50
Upgraded Turbos (he said GT2...??)
Upgraded manifolds
Exhaust
Intake
ECU
605hp kit from some tuner
BIG brakes, wheels, wing... name it!

Anyways, here's how it went. We were toying around on the 101 and he got off on Valley Circle... its a pretty wide (sometimes curvy) road. He gunned it off the ramp, but there was traffic so we were quite tame. I saw an opening and passed him and punched it in 2nd from about 35mph. He punched it to... I was about 2 cars ahead. It was even in 2nd and most of 3rd. By the time the end of 4th came, he was just behind me... near my rear bumper and in 5th he came to my door. The road started curving, so I let off... I was at least 130+ mph.

We chatted and he was quite amazed! I suppose from a rolling 2nd gear start, he would take me by 3-4 cars to 150mph... which is not bad considering what my car is setup for.

Time for more boost... I think I'll be dead-even with 8psi

Temps were in the LOW 50's... which is about 30 degrees colder than when I last dyno'd the car, so it is making more power for sure

You have a bad ass ride there, no doubt but I have a few question.

If he has a 911TT he should trap 111-113 stock. If he upgraded his turbos and all the rest of that stuff he should be trapping mid 120's. (Although not sure why he'd put GT2 turbos on, it's a slower car)

Who knows, nice run!

I guess Im surprised because a stock 911 traps 116. With those mods he should be near 130, that means this race isnt close.

Regardless you have a bad ass toy there.

I was very surprised when he mentioned his list of mods... I think with these kind of temps, I could quite easily trap 118-120mph. I think he is trapping 122-125mph, not higher. If you look at the supercar challenge on CarAndDriver, a 800hp/850ft-lbs torque Ligenfelter TT Corvette traps 136, and its lighter than the a 911TT... so a 605hp 911TT is going to trap anywhere from 122-125mph.

A 640hp/770ft-lbs torque RENNtech SL600 traps 121... also weighs 4389lbs!

I was ahead and he was catching up... so I lost. I mean, if I start 10ft from the finish-line against a top-fuel dragster and I make it across the line first doesn't mean I won

How much power are you putting down at the wheels? That is an amazing story! YOu ever take your car to the track after the turbos?

AT 80'ish temps, it was 419whp on a dyno... you usually gain quite a bit on a moving car and 30 degrees cooler!

Nice! I put down 460RWHP this past summer. I hit the track and tried my ass off to get into the 11's but best I could do was 12.1, maybe when it gets cooler I may achieve it. Even with 520RWTQ, traction didn't seem to be too big of an issue for me. Best 60 time I got was .187 or so but I still could not trap above 117

When I get the CLS55 in Feb/March, I plan on doing pulley/ECU/Headers/LSD/maybe exhaust so I'll see what that thing will do.

With a .187 60-foot, you must be taking top-fuel drag cars at the launch
You probably meant 2.187?!?

I would never use that as a baseline. An 800 hp Vette will trap close to the mid 140's, so the 136 is blasphemy at it's best.

Stock he traps 116ish, so with those mods I'd expect 125 or higher.

Sure... I don't mind. Most mod'd cobras would take me quite easily as those things run very fast stock! But, PM me... I'm down for it!

Thanks... not sure if its getting any better. It feels very good in the cold and I hadn't got on it in nearly two months... so it was fun! My brakes should be in this week, so I'll have to put those on before anything else. I'll have the spring once BlueCLS6 is back in town.

I had mine installed last week. They look great. Haven't had a chance to drive it yet though. They blew the master cylinder seals while bleading the brakes and I have to wait till tomorrow to pick it up.

Is that 419hp SAE net or gross, and was it a roller dyno or one of those lame axle dynos? What type of torque #s are you making? What are your 60' times - thing sounds like it'd be a beast to launch.

If that 911TT is trapping in the 120+ range, he should be pulling deep into the 11's.....and if you're hanging w/ him I'd assume your 12.xx means very low 12's and that your 11X. mph is 119. I'm not trying to flame - I'm just trying to put all of this together......I mean it's not everyday you see/hear of a CLS taking out a 911TT. Any videos of the dyno pull or the low 12 run?

Why are you still going by allmotor....isn't that an oxymoron?

He hasn't taken the current setup to the track.

Based upon the weight of the car and his hp numbers he should be in the 11's if he can hook up. Reving it up to about 5500 and then drop the clutch while in 2nd gear might prove to give adequate traction and avoid having to shift one more time... right allmotor?

I suspect that due to traction issues, his car is capable of a 12.2 pass at over 116 mph.

I believe the dyno #'s are raw values, although I could be wrong. It was on a 'lame' axle dyno A friend dyno'd his G35C on that dyno as well as a dynoject and the 'lame' axle dyno showed 11whp more, so I am quite happy with the way that particular 'lame' axle dyno has been calibrated for not having the front wheels on a roller.

Torque was 360.x ft-lbs

This is my 2nd race with a 911TT... the first one (I assume) was a stock one with the X50 package which I pulled on slightly in 4th gear. This 911TT was obviously much quicker. I have also raced a 360 Modena which I destroyed and an E55 AMG which was pretty much an even race. Note that all these are on 91-octane with my timing retarded about 5 degrees at 6psi.

Dyno #'s can be 'lame' or whatever... I don't really care. The car is quick, that's all I need to know

Very nice!!! But I'm happy with my modest 305/262 WHP/TQ... well sorta... But I think I'd be even happier with 350... or would I?

Quick Reply: AWESOME race with a highly-modded 911TT
