Is an AWD CL-S possible???

Is it even possible, or has anyone ever heard of converting a CL-S to AWD from FWD. I don't know anything about cars, but I am guessing that there would be little room if any underneath in the rear. But that is just a guess. Maybe it is possible. Anybody got any info????

It would be sweet to have the ability to get more HP to the ground, especially with heavy mods. Just a thought.

That would be sweet, bigtime.

I would think that a supercharged AWD plus other common mods would noticeably dominate a FWD CL-S with the same mods. I wish I had the cash......

AND the wife's approval!!!

Does anybody have an "educated" guess on how much more efficiently the hp and torque would get to the wheels?

for the amount of $$ you'd spend on the conversion & the CL itself, you could probably almost but a nice Audi, or get an STi and have some spare $$ for mods

Actually, there would be less power at the wheels.

It would just seem like more due to the added traction.

I just LOVE the elegant and sophisticated looks of the CL over an STi or EVO. And A4's only come with four doors. I don't need four doors yet.

Why would there be less power? Would only the extra weight slow the car down? And everyone ou there with supercharged CL's, can you get all that add'l power to the wheels when flooring it, or does it just spin the front tires eventually? I don't know, I have never seen or ridden in a SC'ed CL-S.

It would still be nice, though, IMO.

Horsepower and torque gets lost in the drivetrain.

That's why power measured at the crank and at the wheels are diff. #'s.

With a longer the drivetrain and/or the more drivetrain power has to travel, the less powwer at the wheels.

There would be additional parasitic loss from the extra drivetrain components thus reducing the total power delivered to the wheels. The extra weight would slow it a little but at the lower speeds where weight is more of a factor the additional traction would more than outweigh the weight gain.

I have a serious problem getting power down at speeds below 50MPH so AWD would help. However, from a roll at highway speeds the FWD would win due to less parasitic loss.

Might be easier to go to a wrecking yard and put another engine into the trunk area. Instead of AWD, how about just rwd?

THere you go!! 2 stock CLS engines would put out 520hp. Would more than make up for the extra weight. I was thinking the MDX drivetrain might be the way to go. No 6 speed though.

The front engine could be a 6 speed while the rear catches up, or vise versa (catching up).

Let's do it. I'll bring my Hub Shark and some hammers. Just find a wrecked NSX and slap it in the trunk. Just gear them a little bit different that way we can have 2 shifters. You just shift each one at slightly different times. Would be like a 12 speed kind of.

I'll bring my proto puller set just in case we need to break something . How about installing an air tank in the car and I'll hook up my 3/4" 1200 foot pound impact wrench to the rear tires .

1200 ft lb impact wrench! That's way better than my 3 ft cheater bar! I think getting a mid engine RWD NSX powered car would be most easily accomplished by just getting an NSX.

Imagine the 1/4 mile with rwd or awd, I'm sure cars like Allmotor has would shave at least .5 to .9 off their times.
