That sounds a bit high.
I would guess 40-50K for the CL-S.
Maybe 80K for a 2 income family.
Just a guess.

I would say the "target" CL-S owner is a male, 35-45 years old, with a $60-80K salary.
I'm 34 and make $56-61K a year (depending on my side business). I have no trouble with my car payment, along with other bills, and saving about $1K per month. As you may have guessed, I'm single.

They key is -- how much where... They printed a cost of living survey a few weeks to a few months ago, and you need 50K+ to live in So. Cal, Bay Area, and other places. The rents and home prices compared to the mid-West are out-of-sight.
I think the income target would really change depending on the part of the country one lives in.

The article was about what was required to live as a bare minimum (I don't think they considered living under freeway bridges, etc). Heck, rents in my area are $2K+ per month for 1 and 2 bedrooms. Now compare that to the price of a 3 bedroom home in the Nebraska...
Hmmm... Lets figure in the FICA, state tax, and fed tax too...

I'm a poor one... and most defintely on the low-end of the scale.
I make about $40K... I can afford my own house, can afford to buy, not lease this car and I have $0 in credit card debt. Plus I save 12% of my salary into a 401k. Of course, after all that, you may surmise that I have $0 extra each month
Ah well... still happy as a clam.

I'm make over 200k and bought the CLs for a fun commuter car. I looked at a lot of cars for more money that did not have the performance of the CLs. And the big buck cars are just too nice to beat up commuting everyday.

I'm 23 and make $46.4/year. However I live with the parents - so that helps BIG TIME. Also, I'll probably be getting married in a couple years so that will increase my expenses by a lot. Damn, rings are expensive!!

I have been told that the cost of living in the Northeast is high. At $60,000 I find I get by just fine. I didn't include my wife’s income in that figure because the cost of the CL-S comes out of my pocket. I don't think how much you make is as important as what you do with it. A penny here and a penny there add up especially at 30% when invested wisely.
I put buying the CL-S right up there with getting the military to pay for my education out of high School. Sure I could have bought a BMW. The thing is, not only do I like the interior styling of the CL-S better, but the $10,000 grand I saved makes it a much better deal in the long run especially when its earning 30%.

Hi everyone,
I've been lurking for quite some time. I had to chime in and say us folk in the Southwest must live in poverty or something. I own my home and will be getting that 260hp beast come summer time. I too only make 40 grand a yr but I have a new home and will be able to get that sweet machine one the divorce bills are paid.
I have driven the CLS twice at my local dealer. I think they hate me by now.
Ciao!

As mentioned above, it all depends on where you live. My current salary here in the Dallas area wouldn't allow me to survive in CA or NY, and I would probably have to make three times as much to maintain the same standard of living in those states.

Well, I guessI am the sucker of the group.
I only make $36k a year, and I live in MIAMI FLORIDA where rent is NO LESS THEN $600 a month for a shitty 1 room apartment.
I do, however live at home, and only expense now is the car ( I pay over $1,000 a month on the loan). Now with the Wreck, I have buying more toys to keep me happy until i get the car back. So My CC is up in the $1400 range!
Shit, I am gonna go talk to my boss and get a raise now. Wish me luck!

Ummmm....isn't this about discussing the average income target of a CL owner?
Why all honesty about how much you make? Boy, we all trust and confide in each other here! ![](http://www.acura-cl.com/ubb/wink.gif)
OK, like Mike, I am very comfortable. I could have (like alot of us) bought differently.

Coming to a city near you
i'm 24 and I made $56k this year and I'm just a dumb ass security guard. I still live at home too, cost of living in maryland sucks out the ass. Any normal house around here costs $180k-$200k. But living at home is the way to go, It just sucks what the government takes out in taxes. I made $48k last year and they took out $15k in taxes! What kind of crap is that!! Damn I need to either get married, have a kid or buy a house. I'm just not sure what would be the cheapest option

I guess to make acura marketing happy I should have bought 2 of them and had an operation ![](http://www.acura-cl.com/ubb/smile.gif)
I can't see spending a fortune on a car that can be taken out at anytime by a soccermom and her monster truck. I felt the CL-S is a great value, a lot of car for the money. And with it being FWD goes great in the snow/rain, and I don't miss my manual while crawling through traffic!

I'm 27, and I live in the Bay Area, and let me tell you, the cost of living IS high! I'm making 50k+ and since I broke up with my girlfriend I've been living at home w/mom. My total bills are 800/month, so I'm figuring on saving up a ton before I move out and maybe buying an '02 M3. In the meantime, I'm still loving driving my Type S!
